Reporting to the Senior Manager, Business Solutions, the Business Solutions Specialist will be an individual contributor responsible for participating in or overseeing a variety of analytical and technical assignments, incident diagnosis and solutions, documentation, implementation, administration, support, and maintenance on a variety of software and application components in an information technology applications environment. The role is broadly split between providing day-to-day operational support for existing application services to users of those services and project-based work leading to the development and deployment of new application services and business process improvements. The successful specialist provides both on-site and remote access diagnoses and resolution of software, application and business process problems.

What You'll Do

• Reviews all Service Desk tickets coming to the Supply Chain and Customer Focus Teams. Resolves tickets as the specialist becomes comfortable and trained in the various applications and issues that arise or reassigns to the architect or analyst that is most familiar with the technology or issue.
• Establishes/maintains lines of communication with stakeholders with a view to keeping all parties informed of incidents, problems, and resolution.
• Identifies opportunities to reduce calls to the Service Desk by identifying root cause of issues and implementing changes to remove the likelihood of those incidents.
• Supports, researches, analyzes, develops and documents new and existing processes, procedures and solutions to meet business needs.
• Supports the development and management of relationships with vendors in concert with Manager and Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) process.
• Participates in the development, implementation and maintenance of best-practice standards, policies, procedures, and associated training plans to ensure optimal daily operations are maintained.
• Contributes to the development of IT budgets (expense and capital) and estimates.
• Provides technical consultation to clients and IT management to ensure development of efficient application systems utilizing established standards, procedures, and methodologies.
• Researches and evaluates new and/or alternative solutions and technologies to enhance operational effectiveness and reduce costs.
• Contributes to the development of overall strategy, tactics, planning and execution of initiatives to support IT services.
• Documents necessary technical design and analysis work, including project postmortem documentation and metric collection.
• Maintains application documentation and process topology to ensure alignment between the business strategies and the technology roadmap.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field required
• Minimum of 2 years of related experience
• Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office products.
• Working knowledge of application architecture preferred in a manufacturing environment
