The Specialist has expertise in security and asset protection measures. This role will sit in the office and on job sites as determined by project needs.

This position may be based anywhere within the continental United States and will require approximately 50% travel on average, with potential travel demands reaching up to 75%.

Responsibilities

    Collaborates with the Security Director to develop and manage security procedures and strategic planning initiatives aligned with Gilbane's corporate vision and strategic goals
  • Develops and implements security policies, standards, and strategies; continuously evaluates their effectiveness and adapts approaches to minimize risk, prevent loss, and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Conducts in-depth due diligence investigations using open-source intelligence (OSINT) and contracted investigative resources to enhance risk mitigation and support informed decision-making
  • Conducts risk and vulnerability assessments at office locations, active project sites, and during project pursuits; identifies security exposure, and recommends effective countermeasures to mitigate potential threats
  • Conducts thorough investigations into security incidents, working closely with the Security Director to achieve effective results
  • Collaborates with the Security Director, Director of Risk and Insurance, Construction Operations, Legal, HR, Safety, and project leadership to quickly resolve security-related challenges
  • Provides clear, companywide guidance on security best practices to ensure a safe environment for all employees at offices and project sites
  • Stays informed on evolving security laws, regulations, and industry standards while actively engaging with professional organizations to strengthen industry connections and insights
  • Develops and maintains informative content for the corporate website and internal Security page, enhancing user engagement and supporting awareness of security protocols
  • Designs and delivers security awareness training programs for employees to foster a security-conscious culture within the organization
  • Demonstrates expertise in advanced physical security principles, best practices, and risk mitigation strategies
  • Coaches and mentors less experienced team members
  • Supports a positive and inclusive work environment


Qualifications

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree in criminal justice or a related field
  • 20+ years of experience in law enforcement and military operations, both nationally and internationally, with expertise in executive-level operations
  • Experience conducting thorough physical security risk assessments at diverse locations to identify vulnerabilities and recommend effective countermeasures
  • Experience conducting comprehensive security and due diligence investigations, leveraging open-source intelligence and contracted resources to uncover critical insights and support informed decision-making
  • Experience in crisis incident preparedness, response, resolution, preparedness, and response, with experience managing diverse security-related events with quick decision-making, safeguarding personnel and assets
  • Experience in successfully providing executive protection for senior leaders in high-risk environments, applying advanced tactical and risk mitigation skills gained through specialized federal law enforcement training, achieving successful security outcomes across multiple high-profile assignments
  • Demonstrated success building and maintaining strategic partnerships with law enforcement agencies and industry organizations, fostering intelligence sharing and close cooperation in security effectiveness
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must be willing to travel as needed, up to 50% travel

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Expertise in deploying and managing advanced security technologies at diverse locations, including access control systems, video surveillance, intrusion detection, alarm solutions, physical barriers, and drones to enhance personnel and site safety while protecting assets
  • Demonstrates strong critical and analytical thinking when evaluating complex challenges, identifying root causes, and implementing proactive solutions
  • Ability to expertly deliver technical and life safety security training to prepare personnel to identify and respond to security threats effectively
  • Ability to lead business continuity planning initiatives for catastrophic and disaster-level events, ensuring operational resilience and rapid recovery across corporate functions through risk assessment and scenario-based exercises

Salary to be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience of the applicant, as well as the internal equity and alignment with the team.

The pay ranges from $115,000.00-$165,000.00 plus benefits and retirement program.
