  The Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and evaluation of electrical systems, components, and processes in support of Department of Defense (DoD) and U.S. Air Force projects. This role leads field investigations, prepares cost estimates, and ensures design compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements. The position specifically supports the Sentinel Program during the Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) phase. The Senior Electrical Engineer will work collaboratively across multiple disciplines to deliver technically sound, safe, and efficient engineering solutions. Job Responsibilities Level I 
 
  
 
 Apply standard electrical engineering principles and procedures for small-scale or routine projects 
 
 Prepare electrical designs, layouts, drawings, and technical specifications 
 
 Design, develop, modify, and evaluate electrical components and systems 
 
 Assist in preparing conceptual studies, reports, and project proposals 
 
 Coordinate project tasks with engineering disciplines, client teams, vendors, and contractors 
 
 Ensure compliance with technical, quality, and safety requirements during design and construction phases 
 
 Develop component and equipment selections based on specifications and performance criteria 
 
 Support documentation and installation/maintenance procedures 
  
  
 
 
Level II 
 
  
 
 Plan and conduct independent electrical engineering work for medium-scale or complex projects 
 
 Lead the design, development, modification, and evaluation of electrical systems and processes 
 
 Develop conceptual designs, cost estimates, project schedules, and staffing plans 
 
 Prepare and oversee estimates, work plans, and performance tracking reports 
 
 Coordinate technical approvals and design deliverables with clients and stakeholders 
 
 Produce electrical drawings and documents, including single-line diagrams, schematics, grounding layouts, and panel schedules 
 
 Perform electrical analyses using ETAP, including load flow, short circuit, motor starting, relay coordination, and arc flash studies 
 
 Conduct equipment sizing calculations for transformers, UPS, batteries, and protective devices 
 
 Perform lighting design using AGI 32 and grounding grid analysis using ETAP 
 
 Prepare material and equipment specifications using SpecsIntact and evaluate supplier proposals and submittals 
 
 Support procurement documentation and coordinate system requirements with engineering and client teams 
 
 Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with other technical disciplines to ensure integrated design solutions 
  
  
 
 
Education and Experience Requirements Level I 
 
  
 
 Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or related field with 8-10 years of relevant experience, or 12-14 years of equivalent work experience 
 
 U.S. citizenship required

 Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or related field with 10-13 years of relevant experience, or 14-17 years of equivalent work experience

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 
 
  
 
 Experience preparing electrical drawings, calculations, and specifications for complex facilities (nuclear, process, data centers, or utility plants) 
 
 Strong understanding of power systems, load modeling, equipment sizing, and cable sizing 
 
 Broad knowledge of industry codes, standards, and practices (e.g., NEC, IEEE, NEMA, ANSI) 
 
 Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
 
 Proficiency with Microsoft Office and engineering software tools 
 
 Ability to identify and resolve technical design issues both independently and collaboratively 
 
 Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance 
  
  
 
 
Preferred Qualifications 
 
  
 
 Master's degree in Electrical Engineering 
 
 Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) - Electrical 
 
 Experience with ISO-9000 or similar quality management programs 
 
 Prior experience on Department of Defense projects 
 
 Proficiency with SmartPlant 3D and ETAP 
 
 Familiarity with Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) and Whole Building Design Guide (WBDG) 
 
 Experience developing CSI MasterFormat specifications or using SpecsIntact 
 
 General understanding of mechanical and process engineering systems 
  
  
 
 
Project Overview
  This position supports the Sentinel Program, a major U.S. Air Force initiative to modernize the ground-based component of the nation's nuclear deterrent triad, including intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) systems and associated launch infrastructure. The work involves the design, integration, and construction of new ground facilities during the Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) phase. The Senior Electrical Engineer will be part of a multidisciplinary team contributing to high-visibility national defense projects requiring strict compliance with quality, safety, and security standards.
