The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) Internal Communications Specialist supports WWP teammates by developing and managing internal communications, collateral materials, activities, and events. This position will provide support to the WWP leadership team and maintain our intranet with meaningful and impactful content.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop strategic communication plans that drive teammate and leadership awareness of key internal projects and tentpole activations.

  • Create, develop, and effectively execute communication materials in alignment with established plans.

  • Work closely with the Internal Communications Manager to develop and implement leadership communications and support materials.

  • Develop content, support logistics, and oversee production for companywide meetings and events.

  • Support the organization's intranet by actively participating in strategy discussions, crafting stories and materials, maintaining content, and supporting other teams as needed.

  • Be a driving force for culture and engagement with teammates and supporters through various virtual and in-person initiatives.

  • Coordinate logistics and distribution for both digital and printed materials.

  • Serve as a brand ambassador, ensuring compliance with brand guidelines and standards across internal communications materials and, as necessary, outside the department.

  • Contribute to editorial conversations and assist in managing the editorial calendar.

  • Manage and maintain comprehensive documentation of departmental standard operating procedures.

  • Attend and actively participate in required training and/or meetings, including but not limited to New Teammate Orientation, WWP Cares, ASIST Suicide Prevention training, Leadership training, culture/team based training, or departmental huddles.

  • Other related duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE

Requirements

  • Four years of experience in internal communications, journalism, public relations, communication, or a related field.

  • Two years of experience in concurrent stakeholder management, high-priority project deadline adherence, and confidential information handling.

Preferences

  • One year of experience working with Adobe Creative Suite.

  • One year of experience in copywriting for internal communications.

  • One year of experience with Office365, specifically SharePoint.

EDUCATION

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in advertising, communications, marketing, English, journalism, or business. Equivalent combination of applicable education, experience, training, or certification may be considered in lieu of degree.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • General office environment: temperature controlled.

  • Sitting for extended periods.
