Your Job

Georgia-Pacific is seeking a Director of Software Engineering - Value Delivery to fill a key position as a member of the Software Engineering & Integration (SE&I) Leadership Team. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working within a very dynamic, cross-functional team where they are expected to use their initiative, judgment and sense of urgency to meet the needs of our Commercial Segments, disrupting and optimizing the existing set of solutions and the associated business processes.

Location: This is an onsite role (3 days in office) based out of our Atlanta GP office.

Our Team

GP's Software Engineering & Integration team's core competency is designing, building, delivering, and maintaining custom software solutions and integrations. We recently initiated our transformation journey, creating functions and capabilities that enable engineers to have major impacts on GP's business performance. We seek to build functionality once, so engineers are encouraged to re-use their peers' work and modify them to meet new use cases. We focus on delivering profitable business outcomes by partnering with business analysts, delivery leaders, and quality engineers to build the right solution at the right speed.

What You Will Do

  • Guide and enable each team member in the Value Delivery organization to realize their potential and make their greatest contribution to the organization's.
  • Hire, develop, and retain employees who are motivated to contribute and who bring diverse aptitudes, strengths and passions to the team.
  • Promote and apply the Principle Based Management culture within the team and organization.
  • Drive the vision and roadmap for the Value Delivery organization supporting Commercial Segments, developing strategies for delivering internal and external mission-critical applications and partner integrations.
  • Lead the end-to-end delivery and support of all custom applications utilized by our Commercial Segments (Consumer Products, Packaging & Cellulose and Building Products).
  • Collaborate with the other IT capabilities and the business to identify opportunities to drive business value and operational excellence.
  • Understand and manage resource allocation to ensure the team is focused on the right initiatives and outcomes, flowing capacity to the initiatives driving the highest value.
  • Drive the adoption of GenAI tools within your capability, continuing to transform ways of working and driving productivity improvements.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, driving innovation and transformation as the industry evolves.
  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with vendors, ensuring the successful delivery of projects and acquisition of appropriate tooling.
  • Create a culture of continuous improvement, regularly reviewing and optimizing the team's processes and engineering practices applying economic thinking.
  • Supporting team members to become more contribution motivated.
  • Continually aligning roles and responsibilities so everyone can maximize their impact.
  • Creating an environment where diverse perspectives and skills are valued and leveraged.
  • Collaborate and be a challenge partner to the other SE&I and IT Capabilities.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Experience collaborating with Product Management teams and applying Product Management practices, building strong relationships and mutually beneficial partnerships with business and product leaders
  • Prior experience driving business value through the application of innovative technology solutions
  • Experience in adopting and implementing GenAI tools and practices to improve developer experience and productivity
  • Knowledge and experience participating in or implementing Agile/Scrum methodologies
  • Experience with cloud-based application development across various technology stacks (.Net, Python, Go, etc)
  • Experience leading global, distributed teams
  • AWS knowledge and experience
  • Must have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience leading Quality Engineering teams focused on defect prevention and test automation
  • Expertise in integrations and integrating custom solutions and ERPs utilizing Microservices and iPaaS such as Mulesoft
  • Bachelor's Degree in MIS, Computer Science, or Engineering
