Purpose Statement / Position Summary This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Orange Coast Medical Center. The employee shall support MemorialCare Medical Centers' strategic plan and participate in and advocate performance improvement/patient safety activities. The Infection Control Professional (ICP) position is within the Performance Improvement department at Orange Coast Medical Center. The ICP is primarily responsible for the activities aimed at preventing healthcare associated infections (HAIs), ensuring proper Infection Control precautions are in place, and compliance with infection control standards. In collaboration with the Infection Prevention Program Managers, the Infection Control Professional is accountable for the development, implementation, management, and operation of the infection prevention programs. The ICP conducts rounds, monitors infection prevention practices, collects data, maintains accurate records of HAIs, submits data internally/externally, and trains staff on infection prevention practices. The ICP ensures that the facility follows all federal and state regulations, CDC guidelines, and quality/safety standards to reduce the risks associated with hospital and community acquired diseases for our patients across the care continuum. *Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications.
