JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for planning, implementing, and auditing safety programs for project activities and field service activities including the development of training programs for field service personnel for safety and technical activities

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop a safety program to be followed by all field service personnel in accordance with OSHA, NFPA-70E, DOT, state, local, and customer requirements. Program must include the following:
  • Safety Manual
  • PPE requirements
  • Maintenance of OSHA 300 logs and accident investigation records
  • Training modules, material, and training intervals
  • Drug and Alcohol policy and testing program
  • Adoption of behavior-based training protocols
  • Maintenance of training and audit records
  • Provide Leadership communications to drive safety expectations
  • Assist in the identification of possible losses, evaluation of risk assessments and development of corrective action plans.
  • Lead response to Contractor Safety Qualification submittals and audits.
  • Assist in hazards analysis and arc/blast calculations as required
  • Review and audit subcontractor safety compliance and programs
  • Facilitate handling of worker's compensation claims as required
  • Provide or facilitate through external partners safety training as required
  • Perform or facilitate through external partners periodic safety audits as required
  • Ensure inspections by regulatory agencies are coordinated and deficiencies minimized and corrected.
  • Perform and lead accident investigations as required
  • Lead Waukesha cooperation with any Federal, State, local or customer safety investigation, inspection, or audit
  • Assist in resolution of customer inquiries or questions regarding safety issues
  • Develop communication and incentive programs to accomplish safety objectives
  • Assist in the development of standard work practices and documentation of these practices
  • Develop an environmental program to be followed by all field service personnel in accordance with state, local, federal, and customer requirements. Program must include
  • SPCC Program
  • Release Reporting
  • Hazard Material Handling and Communications
  • DOT Regulations

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Full knowledge of OHSA Standards 1910 & 1926
  • Experience of Electric Utility Systems, especially the transmission distribution network.
  • Experience with high voltage safety practices.
  • Outstanding organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Analytical mindset and good problem-solving skills
  • Strong Microsoft program skills

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required Education / Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in industrial safety or Safety Engineering and 3 years demonstrated experience
  • or a minimum of 5+ years of demonstrated experience in an EH&S role
  • Must have proven experience in a related industry (construction, utility, industrial, etc.)


ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Key Working Relationships

  • This position also requires contact with all levels of employees, including first line supervisors and department managers daily, as well as frequent contact with unit and division Human Resources personnel, outside businesses, professional organizations, customer representatives and others such as medical providers.

Physical Demands

  • 40% travel, Construction site access and climbing ladders, conducting inspections on equipment and materials
