The University Center for Assessment, Teaching, and Technology (UCATT) seeks a Communications Specialist, Senior to join our vibrant team who are committed to teaching and learning excellence. UCATT provides comprehensive and evidence-based teaching practices, course design, and instructional technologies to promote impactful learning across campus. This senior-level communications professional will serve as a strategic communications expert, developing and executing comprehensive communication strategies that advance UCATT's mission and enhance our visibility across the university and beyond.

Duties & Responsibilities

What You'll Do

  • Lead strategic communication initiatives and develop comprehensive communication plans for UCATT's services, major initiatives, and events across multiple audiences.
  • Create compelling content across multiple platforms, from technical documentation to promotional materials.
  • Lead development and maintenance of internal documentation systems and communication workflow processes.
  • Manage content and events calendar and establish standardized processes for content creation and approval.
  • Assist as communications liaison between UCATT and campus partners, faculty and staff, and external stakeholders.
  • Analyze communication effectiveness and recommend strategic improvements to leadership.
  • Build and deliver training programs on communications best practices and tools for UCATT staff.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Extensive knowledge of communications principles, theories, and best practices.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and content creation skills across multiple formats and audiences.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills with ability to develop innovative approaches.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with ability to tailor messaging for multiple audiences.
  • Proficiency with communications technology, including content management systems, design software, and analytics tools.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with faculty, staff, and external partners.
  • Skills in managing complex projects.
  • Understanding of higher education environment and academic culture.
  • Knowledge of instructional design, educational technology, or faculty development.
  • Strong project management and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple priorities.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, English, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Communications, Marketing, or related field.
  • Experience in higher education communications.
  • Experience with data analysis and communication metrics.
  • Experience in strategic communications planning and execution.
  • Experience with digital communications platforms, content management systems, and social media.

As a campus with residential housing facilities, the Main Campus ASR also includes a combined Annual Fire Safety report with information on fire statistics and fire safety systems, policies, and procedures.
