Job Summary

The Billing Manager leads all billing and cash posting procedures to ensure consistent and accurate billing of electronic and paper claims to commercial and government insurance payers in a timely, accurate and compliant manner. The Billing Manger assists in setting goals and key performance indicators and leads the team to achieve. The Billing Manager establishes partnerships with Registration, Coding, Managed Care, Medical Staff Office and others to ensure a team environment when addressing billing and claim issues. The Billing Manager partners with other Billing Managers to ensure consistency across the department and to create a team environment. Demonstrates and promotes a commitment to customer satisfaction and professionalism. Demonstrates ongoing growth and development of self through active self-reflection, personalcompetencydevelopment strategies, and role modelingthe "Grow myself, grow my team, and grow Monument Health (G3)LeadershipCompetencies" to promote our Monument Health vision and mission.

Job Description

Essential Functions:

  • Provides direct supervision and support of supervisors; provides coaching, as needed.
  • Consistently models behavior that promotes a positive image of the organization and promotes a team environment.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of specific payer requirements and regulatory changes made by third party payers, as evidenced by documentation, observation and feedback.
  • Identifies and assists in tracking performance improvement initiatives. Monitors and records activities to meet or exceed best practice baseline Key Performance Indicators. Holds Supervisors accountable to performance indicators.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the Epic computer system and other applications needed to perform job duties.
  • Partners with Medical Staff Office and Epic team to ensure claims are held/processed, as needed.
  • Identifies and seeks input from Supervisors regarding patterns on denied claims. Partnering with Revenue Integrity, Coding, Managed Care, Medical Staff Office and others to resolve issues.
  • Organizes and reinforces the collaborative role the team member assumes through interaction with the team in order to meet the needs of the Department.
  • Attends mandatory training sessions, Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and professional publications.
  • Delegates assignments and special projects to supervisors and provides support, as needed.
  • Ensures the integrity of medical billing workflows, billing policies and procedures. Ensures billing operations are performed in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Monitor and report Key Performance Indicators, as necessary.
  • Responsible for throughput of assigned Epic work queues.
  • Maintains customer dignity and respect in all interactions.
  • Responds to Caregiver concerns ensuring consistent application of Monument Health policies and procedures.
  • Accomplishes billing human resource objectives by selecting, orienting, training, scheduling, coaching, and disciplining employees. Guides employee actions by researching, developing, writing, and updating billing practices, guidelines.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Additional Requirements

Required:

Education - Bachelors in Related Field

Preferred:
Work Experience - 3+ years of Management Experience; 1+ years of Billing/Collections Experience; 1+ years Medical Terminology Experience

Physical Requirements:
Sedentary work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
