Professionals in these roles drive continuous improvement, quality assurance, and customer satisfaction within organizations.

Discipline Description

Quality Assurance personnel develop policies, procedures, and methods to evaluate and improve the quality of products, materials, components and/or operations. They ensure products, services, or processes meet established quality standards and customer requirements. They develop, assure, and maintain the quality of products and processes, including standard procedures, and quality audits/reviews.

Some Typical Duties & Responsibilities Include:

Plan, perform and document independent inspections and or receiving inspections in accordance with documented procedures, purchase order requirements, established acceptance criteria (standards), and industry practices, as defined in the implementing documents, and perform verification of corrective actions.
Plan and perform independent inspections to determine the compliance of processes, activities, structures, systems and components (SSCs) to specified acceptance criteria.
Perform receiving inspections to ensure procured items are in compliance with the purchase order requirements, established inspection criteria, applicable drawings, specifications, national codes and standards, etc.
Work from appropriate procedures, codes, specifications, standards, drawings, inspection tools/techniques, items, components, activities, and inspection planning and reporting methods.
Achieve and maintain division specific qualifications.
Perform documenation functions associated within inspection records, logs, work orders and other related documentation.
Apply job skill proficiencies in inspection techniqes and the use of inspection tools, equipment, measurement standards, measuring and test equipment (M&TE) and related instrumentation.
Provide technical assistace, training and familiarization of independent inspection and basic concepts to other quality specialists, supervision, mechanics, operators, engineers, and inspections customers.

Perform independent inspection activities in accordance with approved procedures and work instructions.
Perform measurements and verify output of M&TE.
Read and understand procedures to allow verification of essential or specified inspection criteria.
Interpret engineering and design drawings and sketches for implementation of inspection activities.
Perform mathematical calculations as required to determine correct values or make conversions.
Perform inspection planning activities as required to verify quality and conformance to specified acceptance criteria.
Perform pre/post work document review in accordance with established procedures.
Perform surveillance, in-process monitoring or assessment activities, as required.
Perform verification of corrective actions to ensure elements (task) have been fully and correctly implemented.

Required Qualifications

* Associate's degree in relevant field plus completion of applicable certification or on-the-job training plus at least 1.5 years of experience (YOE) in an applicable role, OR High school diploma plus completion of applicable certification or on-the-job training plus at least three YOE in an applicable role
* Equivalencies to experience and education requirements will be considered

Complete and maintain required radiological training
Be able to obtain an L clearance

Security Clearance Information

SRNS is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug & alcohol test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, criminal records, and employment history, and education verifications. Positions with SRNS may require applicants to obtain and maintain a DOE L or Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. Factors such as pre-employment background review results, dual citizenship status, and unpaid and/or unfiled taxes may impact your ability to obtain a security clearance.
