Systems Engineering Manager

Join a team where your leadership shapes the mission. Peraton is seeking a Systems Engineering Manager to lead a high-performing biology team supporting high-impact programs in Chantilly, VA. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to guide talented biologists, partner with government stakeholders, and drive systems integration efforts that matter on a national scale.

As a hands-on technical leader and people manager, you'll balance mission execution with team development-ensuring strategic alignment, timely delivery, and continuous improvement across complex engineering efforts.

Responsibilities

Lead, mentor, and manage a skilled team of biologists in support of high-impact programs
• Serve as a technical subject matter expert in bioinformatics and trusted advisor to government and corporate leadership
• Coordinate across teams and stakeholder groups to ensure mission requirements are prioritized and met with precision
• Develop high-quality executive briefings, decision packages, and strategic communications
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovative solutions to complex challenges
• Stay up-to-date on industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously enhance processes and methodologies
• Design and execute experiments, analyze data, and present findings to internal and external stakeholders
• Act as a subject matter expert and provide technical support to customers and colleagues
• Participate in the development and validation of new products and applications
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and productivity

Required qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph
• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Environmental Science, or a related technical field
• 15+ years of relevant experience
• 8+ years supporting Intelligence Community customers in a customer-facing role
• Demonstrated experience in management and coordination of technical staff
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate complex customer requirements
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
• Skilled in translating complex technical concepts into executive-level briefings and communications
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills
• Demonstrated ability to grow teams, drive mission impact, and lead through change

Desired qualifications

• Associate and/or Professional AWS certifications
• Master's or Ph.D. in Biology, Environmental Science, or a related technical field preferred
