THE POSITION

The State Correctional Institution Camp Hill, under the Department of Corrections, is on the lookout for a dynamic and innovative individual to fill the role of Information Technology Generalist 1. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This role serves as the primary resource for information technology support within the facility, encompassing a comprehensive range of responsibilities related to both hardware and software systems, whether they are networked or standalone. The position entails managing multiple Local Area Networks, which adds to the complexity of the IT environment. Given the diverse array of equipment-including various hardware types and peripherals, alongside a mix of custom-developed and commercial software across different platforms such as desktops, laptops, mainframes, and servers-this role requires adept handling of the unique security and operational needs of business, educational, and correctional settings. Key responsibilities include systems administration, installation and maintenance of computer and network equipment, providing user support, troubleshooting IT issues, acting as a liaison for technology-related matters, keeping up with emerging technologies, managing software applications for facility operations, overseeing IT equipment and supplies, and executing additional duties and special projects as needed.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as an Information Technology Trainee or Information Technology Technician (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Three years of information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, networking or desktop services, web site development or web site design, or other information technology support/administration services; or
  • One year of information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, networking or desktop services, web site development or web site design, or other information technology support/administration services, and an associate's degree in any information technology field; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:

  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
