Summary:

Under the supervision of the Director of Clinical Practice, the Education Coordinator is responsible for assisting and supporting the department in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the educational needs of the staff. This includes the maintenance of the programming through the American Heart Association Training Center (BLS, ACLS, PALS), maintenance of competency tracking and class assignments for the new nurse residency program, assisting with student placements and assisting with programming and assignments through the organization's learning management system. This position is also responsible for program support of all departmental educational activities and for customer assistance and support.

Responsibilities:


  • Assist in planning, development, implementation and evaluation of the annual educational plan based upon accrediting and regulatory agency standards, adult learning theories and the philosophy, CORE values, goals and mission of CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health System.
  • Assign and develop educational programming through the organization's learning management system. Develop courses, enter and track assignments, classes and attendees through the learning management system.
  • Provide timely, accurate and up-to-date reports as required for regional departments or system leadership.
  • Independently manage the components of the American Heart Association Training Center programming for the region as training coordinator.
  • Complete and maintain instructor status for BLS.
  • Enter competency-related information and classroom activities in the student tracking system for the new nurse residency program.
  • Assist in the management of the student nurse assignment/tracking system used in the organization. Maintain the contractual management system for academic affiliations.
  • Provide assistance for the Clinical Education Department/Simulation Laboratory, acting as receptionist, providing customer assistance, answering phones, screening calls, making reservations and organizing and maintaining records of correspondence as needed.
  • Order departmental supplies as needed by the department.
  • Participate in the development and revision of department processes.
  • Assist in the identification of resources needed for completion of department activities.
  • Demonstrate adherence to the CORE values of CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health System.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:


  • Master's degree required; preferably healthcare related but may consider other Master's prepared disciplines.
  • Minimum 3 years healthcare experience, preferably instructor or education development experience.
  • Experience in Microsoft Word applications, Excel spreadsheets.
  • Basic Life Support Certification and BLS instructor status preferred or must be successfully obtained within 6 months of employment.

Work Schedule:

8AM - 5PM Monday-Friday
