Job Description

The University of Missouri's Athletics Department is seeking a Learning Specialist.

This position is responsible for providing academic counseling and support for student-athletes to ensure they make satisfactory and appropriate academic progress towards graduation and meet all university, conference, and NCAA eligibility requirements. This includes counseling student-athletes concerning the institution's academic requirements and student support structure. Additionally, this position will implement comprehensive educational programming specifically targeting student-athletes facing significant challenges, including those diagnosed with educationally impacting disabilities.

Key responsibilities include:

Mentoring and tutoring student-athletes with neurodiversity.

Monitoring and developing success plans to assist student-athletes in overcoming educational barriers.

Collaborating with staff on the development of short and long range goals, and the coordination of the recruiting, training, continued education and evaluation of the Enhanced Learning Program.

Serving as the Liaison with Office of Disability Services.

Working together with Student-Athlete Academic Services staff to ensure transparency and develop a holistic approach for student-athlete academic development through orientation sessions, facilitating/recommending tutoring for students, monitoring class attendance, and preparing periodic reports.

Participating in on-campus recruiting activities and other duties as assigned by the director.

Abiding by all University, SEC, NCAA, and FERPA rules and regulations in an ethical and confidential manner.

Shift

Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm; Nights, Weekends, and Travel as required.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications: Master's Degree and 2-4 years of experience as a learning specialist for student-athletes or related experience working with individuals with neurodiversity.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $52,915.20 - $54,000

Grade: GGS 10
