Internship

Overview:

Loureiro Engineering Associates is seeking an Environmental Engineering Intern to join our Environmental Engineering Division in Plainville, CT. This internship offers hands-on experience supporting environmental site investigations, permitting, and remediation projects. Interns will work alongside experienced engineers, scientists, and geologists on real project deliverables that involve fieldwork, data analysis, and environmental compliance.

This is a paid internship.

This opportunity is ideal for students who are looking to apply their environmental engineering coursework to practical challenges in the field and office.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in engineering calculations related to site assessment and remediation.
  • Participate in field sampling programs involving soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, and vapor.
  • Support the design, operation, and monitoring of environmental remediation systems.
  • Conduct research on historical site data, environmental regulations, and permitting requirements.
  • Tabulate, analyze, and interpret environmental data.
  • Prepare figures, reports, work plans, and technical correspondence.
  • Assist with environmental permitting and licensing efforts.
  • Learn and apply standard operating procedures and health & safety protocols.
  • Contribute to project proposal development and time/expense estimates.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Analytical thinker with strong attention to detail.

What You Bring


  • Junior, senior, or graduate-level student pursuing a degree in Environmental, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA.
  • Sound knowledge of environmental engineering principles.
  • Strong computer and writing skills.
  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification is a plus.
  • Prior internship or relevant project experience is a plus.
  • Self-motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
