Internship

Overview:

Loureiro Engineering Associates is seeking an Electrical Engineering Intern to join our Facility Engineering Division in Plainville, CT. This internship offers hands-on experience supporting the design and development of electrical systems as part of our Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) team. Interns will gain exposure to real-world projects involving lighting, power distribution, fire alarm, and renewable energy systems for a range of public and private-sector buildings.

This is a paid internship.

This opportunity is ideal for students who are eager to apply electrical engineering principles in the built environment and develop technical design skills in a professional consulting setting.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design of electrical systems for buildings, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems.
  • Support the preparation of construction drawings, wiring diagrams, and specifications.
  • Conduct field investigations of existing electrical systems.
  • Perform basic electrical calculations such as load analysis and voltage drop under supervision.
  • Work with AutoCAD, Revit, and electrical modeling tools to support project deliverables.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines (mechanical, plumbing, architectural) on integrated building systems.
  • Attend internal design meetings and client coordination sessions as needed.

Requirements:

  • Curious and motivated to learn about electrical system design in real-world applications.

What You Bring


  • Junior, senior, or graduate-level student pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA.
  • Interest in building electrical systems and MEP design.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, or electrical design software is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Eagerness to learn and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
  • Prior internship or academic project experience related to building systems is a plus.
