Internship

Overview:

Loureiro Engineering Associates is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our Facility Engineering Division in Plainville, CT. This internship provides hands-on experience in mechanical system design for a variety of building types, working within our Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) team. Interns will support the design and development of HVAC, plumbing, and energy systems for commercial, institutional, and public-sector facilities.

This is a paid internship.

This opportunity is ideal for students who are interested in learning how building systems are designed and integrated into functional, sustainable environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the design and layout of HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
  • Support the preparation of construction drawings and specifications.
  • Conduct field surveys of existing building systems and document findings.
  • Perform basic engineering calculations under supervision.
  • Use AutoCAD, Revit, and other design and modeling tools.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on real project deliverables.
  • Participate in team meetings and client coordination as needed.

Requirements:

What You Bring


  • Junior, senior, or graduate-level student pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA.
  • Interest in building systems and facility design.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, or similar tools is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to learn in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
  • Prior internship or project experience related to MEP systems is a plus.
