GENERAL SUMMARY:
The primary function of this job is to conduct routine inspections of premises and equipment and perform preventative maintenance on process and facility equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operational Duties:

  • This role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, including the maintenance and repair of production related equipment in the production plant (Carbon Dioxide, Air Separation Unit, Vacuum Swing Adsorption) such as compressors, pumps, motors, valves, gauges and vessels.
  • In addition, it includes performing basic disassembly and rebuild of mechanical equipment, removing and installing motors and compressors, coordinating the installation, alignment and commissioning of repaired/rebuilt rotating equipment, changing out mechanical seals and the basic repairs on valves.
  • Other essential tasks include performing preventative maintenance tasks and documenting it in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and coordinating and performing bed change outs and performing general welding operations.

Maintenance Support:

  • The Maintenance Technician will perform minor repairs on standard building systems such as Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) equipment, plumbing, and sprinkler systems.
  • Additionally, the position involves maintaining and performing jobs related to the general upkeep of the plant such as lighting repairs, door repairs, replacing railings, patching and painting walls, etc and ordering the necessary parts and/or equipment from designated vendors to complete a job task and maintain specific stock levels of critical parts.
  • The individual in this role is also expected to understand the operation of the production plant, work with contractors on various repairs and projects in the plant, keep all tools and power equipment in a safe working condition and calibrate quality assurance product analyzers and perform quality testing on products.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Education:

  • High School diploma or General Educational Degree (GED); Trade school is preferred.

Required Length & Type of Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of Industrial experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to understand and comply with the established Quality System and to report any quality deficiencies and stop any plant operation if it is compromising the quality process.
  • Ability to understand and comply with all safety regulations and guidelines while on company and/or customer property.
  • Ability to safely operate a forklift, pallet jack, and other material handling or lifting equipment.
  • Possess a full range of motion; ability to lift 50 pounds. Climb ladders, work from heights.
  • Strong communication skills in English and the ability to accurately perform basic arithmetic calculations.
  • Required to be on call and shares "On-call" responsibilities with others at the facility.

Desired Skill Set/Knowledge/Expertise:

  • Exhibit safety attitude in Maintenance Technician role.
  • Capable of travel out of town to visit other plants and/or to attend training and meetings.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems within a production plant environment with the ability to maintain and repair systems as needed.
  • Strong experience maintaining and repairing pumps, vacuums, valves, piping, compressors; cryogenic liquid pump experience is preferred.
  • Ability to perform wire and stick welding operations.
  • Strong knowledge, skills, and experience using a wide variety of tools and maintenance and repair equipment.
  • Computer literate with knowledge of basic business or maintenance software.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Frequent regional travel.
  • Moderate overnight travel.
  • Must have reliable, appropriate transportation.
  • Job requires visitation to various Airgas and customer sites, which have varying environments/conditions, layouts, and accessibility.
