D&E Department

The Development & Engineering (D&E) team drives the technology, innovation and new development of data center infrastructure across Vantage's companywide portfolio. D&E evaluates new sites, drives cost and scheduling in line with corporate goals and serves as subject matter experts across the entire project lifecycle from concept through commissioning. The team collaborates with Sales, Operations and management along the way. D&E also works hand in hand with the Construction team to come up with a vertically integrated design and ensures new and existing standards and designs are executed effectively. One thing that distinguishes Vantage is that our technical staff are given the responsibility and authority to directly drive tangible results. Our team can align long-term operational sustainability with value engineering and cost metrics to deliver products aligned with corporate goals. This approach empowers each member of the team to drive high-impact decisions and results.

Position Description

Vantage is looking for an ICT (Information and Communications Technology) & Fiber/Network SME to be a part of the Innovation team that leads the standardization of products across Vantage's companywide portfolio.

With evolution of AI-centric data center deployments the role of fiber and network topology is taking the center stage in development of new data center product designs. You will join a diverse team that comprises of subject matter experts in CSA, Electrical and Mechanical disciplines to help us deliver new product lines and improve existing products.

Regular collaboration and coordination will be required with cross-functional teams and you will work with the regional design and execution teams to ensure that new standards are established, and existing standards are implemented and coordinate any enhancements required to be incorporated into the standard design and specifications.

Essential Job Functions

  • Lead design development of ISPN (Inside Plant System Networks) and OT (Operational Technology) network systems

  • Manage the design and development of scalable fiber and network designs and specifications

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on ICT infrastructure, fiber technologies, structured cabling and optical designs

  • Evaluate customer requirements for fiber and network and recommend optimum designs

  • Ensure designs are in compliance with industry standards

  • Advice internal stakeholders on emerging fiber optics technologies

Duties

  • Evaluate various network topologies and determine the most optimum for given product design

  • Create design playbooks to guide regional teams on implementation

  • Review and validate design documents to ensure compliance with customer requirements and regulatory agencies

  • Develop high-capacity fiber back bones - single mode, multi-mode to support connectivity

  • Coordinate with Outside Plant teams to manage point of connections at MMRs/MPOEs

  • Coordinate with customer fit-out to incorporate inside plant design, as applicable

  • Develop ICT commissioning standards, including structured cabling and security system performance testing

  • Drive implementation of IP-based systems, including but not limited to - LAN/WAN/Wi-Fi Networks, Fiber Optics, Passive and Active ICT Infrastructure and Hardware, BMS/EPMS, SCADA, IP Security & Refuge Systems and Audio-Visual Distribution Systems

  • Additional duties as assigned from time to time by management

  • Utilize REVIT to convey and coordinate designs

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science from an accredited university or college
  • 5+ years of experience with data center design with focus on ICT, Fiber and network infrastructure
  • Knowledge of data center standards and ICT industry protocols
  • Proficient in design of leaf and spine architecture and network fabrics
  • Certifications preferred - CCNP, CCSP, CCNA, CompTIA+
  • Proven track record working in hyperscale or colocation environments

Additional Details

  • Salary Range: $130-150K Base + Bonus (this range is based on Colorado market data and may vary in other locations)

  • This position is eligible for company benefits including but not limited to medical, dental, and vision coverage, life and AD&D, short and long-term disability coverage, paid time off, employee assistance, participation in a 401k program that includes company match, and many other additional voluntary benefits.

  • Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including your qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience and may fall outside of the range shown.
