Provides regulatory technical services and ensures the company adheres to local, state and federal laws, and regulations governing oil and gas operations. This role requires strong analytical skills and attention to detail to prevent violations and ensure safe, environmentally responsible practices.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepares and files state regulatory forms for new well completions, re-completions, multi-completions, saltwater injection wells, disposal wells, drilling permits, W3A Intents to Plug and Abandon and final W3 plugging reports along with well research and data required for these permits and filings.
  • Prepares and files RRC Completion packets online (G-1/W-2 forms) and Well Record packets.
  • Notifies production analyst of new well completion and date well flows to sales.
  • Sets up new Cost Centers for new completions/recompletions online and works with production analyst to ensure production is reported on correct number.
  • Coordinates set-ups for wells for H5/H15 mechanical integrity tests, H15 fluid level testing on inactive wells and SWD/Injection wells. Maintains spreadsheet for operations department conveys failed tests to engineers for possible rig work.
  • Coordinates with field personnel and engineers to conduct initial potential tests required on new drill wells and any uphole recompletions.
  • Maintain accurate records of regulatory filings, permits and operational data for internal tracking and reporting.
  • Monitors regulatory rule changes, analyzing potential impacts on the company operations and advising relevant departments.
  • Files P17 Surface Commingling Permits and Facility Drawings.
  • Files SWR10 Permits for Downhole Commingling and researches all the fields being commingled collaborating with the reservoir and operations engineers.
  • Files W3C forms for P5 renewal compliance regarding all inactive well requirements through the RRC LoneStar system.
  • Act as a primary point of contact with regulatory agencies, providing timely responses to inquiries and maintaining good working relationships.
  • Maintain good relationship with land surveyor for any location plat updates and/or new drill wells as these plats will be needed for permitting.
  • Collaborate with internal teams such as drilling, engineering, geology, land and operations to coordinate various filings and communicate potential regulatory impacts.
  • Work closely with drilling engineers when new well is proposed to ensure scheduling of surveyors is coordinated for the staking of the well location. Also schedule the rig supply water well to be drilled before the drilling rig arrives on location. Some rig supply water wells will need to be permitted depending upon their county.
  • Research and assist in resolving compliance issues, investigating test failures, regulatory violations and recommending corrective actions.
  • Organizes work by reading and routing correspondence, collecting information, initiating and responding to various emails, and telecommunications.
  • Enter authority for expenditures (AFEs) and route in our internal SAP program when received from team engineer or field operations. Then set up daily work folders in Wellview or Siteview so field and consultants can enter their work reports.
  • Coordinates special projects as assigned by Area Operations Manager.
  • Work with engineers on Waterflood Projects and EOR (Enhance Oil Recovery) Projects.

Qualifications:

  • Three(6) years minimum oil and gas exploration operations tech experience.
  • Ability to accurately solve problems and exceptional proficiency in data management.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other departments, officials, and the public.
  • Ability to complete multiple, diverse tasks of differing priorities.
  • Strong communication (both written and oral), organizational, and interpersonal skills are crucial for effective collaboration with internal teams and external regulators.
  • Proficiency in the use and application of the following software:
    • Required: Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
    • Preferred: Working knowledge of Autocad and Bengal AFE software.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year university or college with a degree in business, or related field or equivalent experience.
