Essential Job Duties |
Responsibilities for the Academic Coordinator include but are not limited to:
Academic Advising Support
Serving as primary academic advisor for student-athletes in Exploratory Studies and secondary/additional academic advisor for student-athletes in a declared major. Meeting weekly with freshmen and some upperclassmen student-athletes on assigned team(s). Reporting academic information as needed to key stakeholders.
Develop and Implement Support Plans for Student-Athletes
Developing and implementing programs and activities for assisting and monitoring academic progress toward degree for assigned sports. Providing academic support and collaborating with other staff members to create support plans for assigned students.
Monitoring Academic Eligibility for Student-Athletes
Monitoring academic progress and eligibility of assigned team(s). Interpreting and implementing
NCAA, NC State and
ASPSA policies and procedures.
Primary Academic Liaison to Coaches and Athletic Administrators
Working closely with coaches and administrators to foster an environment conducive of academic success. Communicating academic information and concerns to coaches/athletic administrators. |
Other Responsibilities |
Teaching seminar courses for first-year student-athletes. Assisting in the recruiting process of student athletes. Serving on unit committees and as a liaison with other campus support organizations. Occasional night and weekend work required. |
Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Master's degree and experience working within an academic support or advising unit at the university or college level.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Experience working with a variety of students and a working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
