Job Summary

The Production Specialist - Flexographic Ink plays a key role in supporting ink production and color quality for flexographic printing operations. This position is responsible for preparing, mixing, and adjusting inks to meet customer and production specifications, ensuring color accuracy, consistency, and compliance with quality and safety standards. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Prepare, mix, and adjust flexographic inks according to production and customer specifications
  • Perform accurate color matching using drawdowns, spectrophotometer readings, and customer standards
  • Maintain ink inventory, including receiving, labeling, and proper storage
  • Collaborate with press operators and production staff to ensure inks perform effectively during press runs
  • Troubleshoot ink-related issues such as viscosity, adhesion, drying, and color consistency
  • Follow all safety, environmental, and quality compliance procedures within the ink room and production areas
  • Document ink formulations, adjustments, and usage to maintain accurate traceability records
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance ink handling processes and print quality


Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with flexographic inks in a production, ink room, or printing environment
  • Strong knowledge of ink mixing, color matching, and press-side troubleshooting
  • Proficiency with measurement tools such as spectrophotometers and densitometers
  • Understanding of key ink properties, including viscosity, pH, adhesion, and curing/drying characteristics
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training preferred


Preferred Skills

  • Experience with both water-based and solvent-based inks
  • Familiarity with a variety of printing substrates, including film, paper, and board
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or packaging environment
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles or 5S practices
