The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Position Summary Reporting to the Building Superintendent, and under general direction, the Handyperson A is responsible for minor building and grounds repairs and preventive maintenance of CUIMC apartment buildings. Show initiative and judgment in performing jobs so that they will not result in loss of property. Responsibilities Primarily perform carpentry, masonry painting and plastering work including tiling and drywall. Must be able to paint and plaster large and complex jobs including installing new drywall where needed. Repair floor tiles including but not limited to vinyl, wood and composite tiles. Must also be able to work with concrete as needed. Able to complete complex bathroom floor and wall tile repairs. Adjust and makes minor repairs "on-location" of such items: furniture, office equipment, door closer, gravity hinges, sheet rock, faucets, drains, doors, etc. Repair furniture and equipment in the shop or the field as required. Will also provide assistance as needed with plumbing and electrical repairs or as directed by Superintendent and Resident Manager Inspects building and its equipment and performs preventive maintenance to ensure that all are in proper working condition. Perform tasks, such as snow removal and apartment preparation on an as needed basis. Some heavy lifting may be required. Maintain clean and safe work environment. Minimum Qualifications High School diploma and/or the equivalent required. Seven years of related experience required. Ability to lift and move heavy items as needed. Manual dexterity, and mechanical aptitude. Capacity to safely use power tools when needed. Computer and tablet proficiency are necessary. Ability to communicate effectively required. Good oral, interpersonal, and human relations skills and a commitment to providing excellent customer service. Preferred Qualifications Well versed in multiple trades and capable of plumbing and electrical repairs. Vocational school and certifications in Carpentry trade and related courses.
