Summary: The Laboratory Receptionist serves as a primary customer service role for the laboratory. This role receives specimens into the lab, registers and orders requisitions, and is responsible for greeting visitors and answering the main lab phone. Responsibilities: *Ensures the proper completion of registration/order requests. Validates proper submitter selection, that all collection data is documented, billing type is correct and that all required information (fax request, ICD-10, etc.) is validated before completing the registration/order process. *Receives specimens arriving in the tube system into the LIS, ensuring all pertinent information is present and distributes them to the appropriate testing areas. Assists in specimen processing when able. *Interfaces with customers by phone. Assists with general inquiries from external and internal customers. Directs customer/patients as needed. Serves as first level for customer complaints. *Assists Outreach/Send-out duties by receiving specimens from outside locations or processing specimens for testing.
