Position Summary:

Responsible for maintenance of quality assurance program, supervision and review of dosimetrists tasks, review of planning procedures and oversight of the patient planning and treatment process with brachytherapy or external beam radiation therapy. In this key clinical role, you will ensure the safe, precise, and effective delivery of radiation therapy. You will work closely with Radiation Oncologists, Dosimetrists, and Radiation Therapists, supporting one TrueBeam linear accelerator while contributing to the high standards of care upheld across our department. Our department also hosts a CAMPEP-accredited Medical Physics Residency Program, offering opportunities to teach and mentor.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform day-to-day clinical physics activities, including treatment planning, simulation, dosimetry, and linear accelerator operations.
  • Collaborate with Radiation Oncologists to design and evaluate complex treatment plans (e.g., 3D/4D planning, IMRT, SBRT).
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable Physics Quality Assurance standards and Radiation Safety regulations.
  • Conduct weekly patient chart reviews, routine QA, and equipment quality control testing.
  • Coordinate maintenance, calibration, and repair of radiation therapy equipment.
  • Provide education through in-service training, lectures, and mentorship of students and staff.
  • Participate in departmental teaching associated with the residency program.
  • Maintain ongoing professional development through continuing education, professional society involvement, and review of current literature.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative environment with staff, patients, and vendors.

  • Ability to work independently within a collaborative clinical environment

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Master's of Science degree in physics or engineering and completion of a training/residency program or a Master's Degree in an accredited Medical Physics program. Required license NYS Med Physicist License (Grace period - NA) or NYS Limited Med Physicist Permit (Grace period - NA)
Well developed communication and computer skills.

Required Licenses: NYS Limited Med Physicist Perm, NYS Med Physicist License

Preferred Qualifications:
Certification (ABR);

Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
