Job Summary
The Senior Paralegal provides comprehensive litigation support to attorneys, focusing on New York insurance defense matters. This role involves preparing and drafting pleadings, discovery responses, and motions; coordinating document production; and managing case files to ensure timely and accurate case progression. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong legal research skills, a deep understanding of New York Practice, and the ability to handle complex litigation tasks with professionalism and attention to detail.

Job Responsibilities
  • Assist attorneys in preparing and managing litigation actions, including drafting pleadings and discovery responses.
  • Prepare, review, and coordinate discovery demands and motions in accordance with New York Practice standards.
  • Handle extensive document production, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and adherence to deadlines.
  • Maintain and organize case files, including electronic document repositories and review platforms.
  • Coordinate with management personnel to gather and provide documents responsive to discovery requests.
  • Analyze and catalog documents and exhibits for use in litigation.
  • Conduct legal research and cite-check briefs and filings.
  • Prepare legal documents for submission and manage e-filing processes through PACER and NYSCEF.
  • Initiate and maintain legal holds using relevant software tools.
  • Monitor case status, track court deadlines, and ensure compliance with procedural rules.
  • Perform other related tasks and assignments as required to support litigation teams.
Job Requirements
  • 5-10 years of paralegal experience, preferably in New York insurance defense litigation.
  • Strong knowledge of New York Practice, including familiarity with CPLR and procedural rules.
  • Proven experience drafting discovery responses, demands, and motions.
  • Proficiency with legal hold software, electronic document repositories, and e-filing systems (PACER, NYSCEF).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience in regulatory and/or rate case litigation.
  • Familiarity with regulatory matters, Public Service Commission (PSC) filings, and rate case litigation.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree or Paralegal Certificate from an accredited program preferred.
Work Experience
  • Minimum of five years of paralegal experience in insurance defense or related litigation required.
Additional Job Details
  • Schedule: Onsite for the first two months, with transition to a hybrid schedule thereafter.
  • Hours: 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • Assignment Length: Six-month contract with the possibility of extension.
  • Pay Rate: $60-$70 per hour.
