The preferred location for this position is Charlotte, NC, Lake Mary, FL, St. Petersburg, FL Cincinnati, OH, Plainfield, IN and Raleigh, NC. The exact location will be determined at the time of offer based on business needs.

Position Summary

This position is responsible for Project Controls data management, reporting & analytics for PGO - Distribution in the Carolinas, Florida and Midwest. More specifically the responsibilities are:
  • Responsible for specifying, designing, and preparing reporting and data analysis activities for PGO-Distribution Project Controls tools. These reports are updating on various cadences depending on the reporting.

  • Ability to obtain data from various applications using Enterprise reporting tools such as Microsoft Reporting Services and AWS.

  • Interpret data based on understanding of business transactions/activities; and draw conclusions about data patterns.

  • Write queries for data mining and synthesizing large datasets using SQL, Python, R Studio, SAS or equivalent.

  • Work with external consultants and suppliers on data analysis and development of data management applications in support of project controls activities.

  • Provide technical and functional knowledge of business processes and systems to ensure efficient design, development, implementation, and support of data management applications and reports related to Project Controls functions.

  • This position's primary responsibility is to serve as data owners for the PGO-Distribution Project Controls functions the design, analysis, and report development. Duties of this position also include the consultation with users to specify/design/develop new reports, measures data, and data structures to support Project Controls functions.

  • Prepare dashboard reports in Power BI for Project Controls and Project Management. This position provides direction and approval of data management structures, tables, and universes to the technology application and architecture support team(s).

Responsibilities

  • Extract key observations and insights from internal and external data sources to support decision-making

  • Create ad-hoc reports to support end-user business requirements

  • Data exploration, cleansing, validation and testing in order to optimize processes and discover value

  • Collaborate with stakeholders, business partners, colleagues, developers, and business analysts to deliver high quality value-adding analytics solutions

  • Performs opportunity analysis on PGO data to identify potential planning, forecasting, productivity and efficiency improvements

  • Support in the development and maintenance of automated applications, tools and processes

Required/Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Physics, Information Technology or Business Administration AND three (3) years related work experience

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics and computer science

  • In addition to desired degree, 5 years related work experience

  • Microsoft Power BI Desktop and/or Microsoft Excel - Advanced

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated understanding of business functions and ability to discern impact of request/problem on the business

  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of organization

  • Advanced query writing skills for data mining and synthesizing large datasets using SQL, Python, R Studio, SAS, or equivalent.

  • Demonstrated strong analytical skills and a strong intellectual curiosity for numbers.

  • Demonstrated problem solving, decision making and attention to detail skills

  • Strong understanding of and ability to use programming languages (e.g. SQL, Python, SAS, R, etc.)

  • Experience using data visualization tools such as Power Bi

  • Strong knowledge of basic and advanced prediction models.

  • Data mining knowledge that spans a range of disciplines.

  • Strong exploratory analysis skills.

  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to relate them to the products or services the company is producing.

Working Conditions

  • Hybrid Mobility Classification - Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable daily commute to a Duke Energy facility.

  • Work Schedule -5 Days a week, 3 required days in office, 8-hour days
