Position Description

  • Responsible for directing and overseeing the management of the transmission line, substation, communications, SCADA and Billable/Reimbursable projects for Power Delivery.
  • These projects begin with estimating and we follow them through initiation, design, construction, as-built and project close-out.
  • These projects are generally complex, large scale multi-million dollar projects that can take between 1 to 4 years to complete.


  • Essential Job Tasks:
  • Plans, organizes, oversees, directs and administers the activities of the Project Management department which consists of Project Engineering, Financial/Budgeting functions, Construction Management, Field Inspection and Material Coordination sections.
  • Participate in the development of the Planning and Power Supply capital construction budget project selection. Manage the capital construction budget by monitoring and reporting, on a monthly basis, the overall and individual project spending and projected spending for a given year. This is to be compiled in a spreadsheet and meet monthly with the VP of Planning and Power Supply and the Manager of System Planning to discuss the results and strive to meet the budgeted amount.
  • Serve on various corporate committees within Santee Cooper, represent Santee Cooper at meetings with other utilities and/or government agencies and provide presentations, oral and/or written on topics related to the Project Management functions.
  • Perform field visits to potential or active construction sites to view existing conditions, view project construction progress, interact with field personnel (both Material Coordination as well as Field Inspection personnel). These field visits should occur about 2 - 4 times per month and attention should be given to construction quality, environmental compliance and safety.
  • Perform special assignments including but not limited to manpower planning, economic analysis for various alternatives, property, easement and encroachment issues, legal issues, economic development topics, government relations topics, public relations topics and risk management topics.


  • Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an EAC/ABET accredited college/university +10 years experience in project management or utility experience in planning, design, operations, maintenance or construction required.
  • Professional Engineer license required.
  • PMP certification is preferred.
  • Specific experience in transmission/distribution preferred.
  • +5 years of supervisory experience preferred.


  • Compensation Information:
    $142,160 - $177,700 (min.-mid.)
