No Beginning Review Date: 11/17/2025 About JMU: Mission General Information: The Department of Computer Science at James Madison University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor to begin August 2026. Preference will be given to applicants at the Assistant Professor level. Exceptional candidates at the Associate Professor level will also be considered. Duties and Responsibilities: Applicants from all areas of specialization are encouraged to apply. We especially welcome candidates with a background in Systems, Software Engineering, Theoretical Computer Science, AI, or Cyber Security. Candidates should demonstrate ability and interest in providing high-quality undergraduate teaching in the context of a liberal arts university. Qualifications: Preference will be given to applicants with the potential to develop and sustain an active, undergraduate-oriented research program. A Doctorate (Ph.D., D.Sc., etc.) in Computer Science or a closely related field at the time of employment is required for this position. Preference will be given to applicants who can provide high quality teaching at the undergraduate level with the potential to develop and sustain an undergraduate-oriented research program.
