Position Overview:
The Process Engineer is responsible for supporting Gopher's manufacturing through designing, implementing, and optimizing battery recycling and manufacturing processes to transform raw materials into final products by improving efficiency, safety, and quality. Key responsibilities include analyzing workflows, monitoring process and associated equipment performance, implementing process improvements, instituting manufacturing best practices, troubleshooting and resolving issues, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. This role reports directly to the Director of Process Engineering.

Responsibilities:



  • Comply with and support all department and corporate policies and procedures; Environmental, Health, and Safety policy and procedures; and OSHA guidelines
  • Provide Department Manager with data analysis around production rates and process health daily
  • SME level understanding of the daily department operations and current process conditions to proactively take initiative to meet production goals and targets.
  • Develop / improve data reporting and data analytic pages to facilitate process control and optimization
  • Adequately assess and predict production impacts and communicate to multiple levels of the business.Provide awareness to the business of changing conditions in processes, being able to provide detailed updates informing others timely on process control variances and approaching production upsets with a troubleshooting / solution orientated mindset to resolve issues.
  • Direct Department Managers and Supervisors on actions that need to be taken in production department relating to the processes inputs and outputs to improve production and maintain processes inside control limits.
  • Work cross-functionally by building strong partnerships, and with timely communication with other business units (i.e. Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Safety, Environmental) to work effectively to achieve KPI's and goals for the department and plant.
  • Ownership of all Process Engineering responsibilities for the assigned department, including providing process control statistics and analysis with root cause, identifying process changes needed to impact production, leading these responsibilities through to execution.
  • Provide continuous improvement support to the across Operations and Maintenance departments to implement projects successfully meeting timelines.
  • During planned downtime, plan and execute responsibilities meeting Gantt chart timelines and workflow timelines.
  • Develop, document, maintain, and standardize production floor processes and procedures to facilitate production
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned



          Requirements:



          • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited College or University
          • 5+ years previous engineering experience in manufacturing
          • Strong data analysis and failure cause analysis aptitudes
          • Proven leadership skills to champion change in a highly dynamic environment, promote a positive team atmosphere, and sustain a continuous improvement culture
          • Strong project management skills including time management, action planning, prioritization of tasks, attention to details and meeting deadlines
          • Highly self-motivated and directed, ability to work well under pressure, and sense of urgency
          • Ability to spend time in the plant approximately 20% of the time.


          Preferred Qualifications:



          • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited College or University preferred, but not required
          • Previous work experience supporting a 24/7 manufacturing plant preferred, but not required
          • Proficiency with Aveva PI Vision, JMP, SEEK preferred, but not required
          • Proficiency with AutoCAD (Inventor or similar product e.g. SolidWorks, Pro-E) preferred, but not required
          • Six Sigma Green Belt Certification strongly preferred, but not required
          • Previous experience with metallurgic processes preferred, but not required



          Physical Requirements:



          • Willingness and ability to wear a full-face respirator mask directly against skin (e.g. clean shaven if applicable), work in a hot/high temperature production facility, and wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated areas with or without reasonable accommodation
          • Willingness and ability to comply with safety protocols and company-provided decontamination measures which include utilizing private shower facilities upon leaving the plant environment with or without reasonable accommodation



          Compensation Information:
          Salary Range: $95,946 - $158,222. This position is also eligible for a short-term incentive plan which is determined by the achievement of strategic objectives. The market rate for the role is typically at the midpoint of the salary range; however, variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as candidate qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
