Description

Summary/Position Purpose:

The VMI Technician is responsible for maintaining optimal inventory levels at customer sites through accurate monitoring, replenishment, and reporting. This role ensures the smooth execution of Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) programs by managing product availability, data accuracy, and communication between customers, suppliers, and internal operations teams.

Essential Duties, Functions and/or Responsibilities:



  • Maintain and replenish customer inventories based on established VMI agreements and usage data.
  • Conduct on-site visits to verify stock levels, product accuracy, and shelf organization.
  • Create and process replenishment orders in ERP systems based on forecasted or real-time data.
  • Ensure all bin labels, barcodes, and stock locations are up to date and accurately documented.
  • Coordinate with logistics and warehouse teams to ensure timely delivery of replenishment orders.
  • Maintain communication with customers regarding inventory levels, product substitutions, and order schedules.
  • Assist in implementing new VMI programs or system integrations at customer sites.
  • Uphold all company and customer safety, quality, and compliance standards.
  • Indirectly responsible for product quality.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:



  • High school diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in inventory control, supply chain, warehouse operations, or related field.
  • Experience with Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) programs is a plus.
  • Ability to travel to and from customer sites is required, so a valid drivers license and drug screen are required for this role.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to read and interpret inventory reports, usage data, and order documentation.
  • Comfortable working independently at customer locations and managing time effectively.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude or familiarity with electronic components (if applicable to product line).


Physical Requirements:



  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., when necessary
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards
