Responsibilities:




  • Supervise, support, and coordinate activities of field service technicians in the construction equipment division.



  • Schedule and assign work based on technician skill sets, job priority, and equipment availability.



  • Monitor work in progress, ensuring jobs are completed efficiently, safely, and in accordance with company standards and customer expectations.



  • Provide technical guidance and support to technicians when diagnosing and repairing complex mechanical and electrical issues.



  • Ensure accurate and timely communication with customers regarding job status, delays, and service outcomes.



  • Maintain compliance with all safety, environmental, and company policies and procedures.



  • Review and approve work orders, timecards, service reports, and related documentation for accuracy and completeness.



  • Coach and mentor technicians to support skills development, career growth, and team engagement.



  • Collaborate with parts, sales, and shop service teams to coordinate service operations and optimize customer support.



  • Assist with customer issue resolution, warranty concerns, and field escalation processes.



  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to service efficiency, technician utilization, and customer satisfaction goals.




Requirements
Required Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in heavy equipment service support.

    • Hands-on experience diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining construction or heavy-duty equipment (e.g., excavators, dozers, loaders, etc.)
    • Strong understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and powertrain systems



  • Proven field experience




    • Prior experience working as a field service technician or equivalent, demonstrating the ability to work independently in remote or customer jobsite environments





  • Leadership or team coordination experience




    • Experience leading projects, mentoring technicians, or coordinating work within a service team.



    • Ability to prioritize, schedule, and delegate work in a fast-paced service environment.





  • Customer-facing experience




    • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly with customers about service needs, timelines, and solutions.



    • Strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills.






Preferred Experience:


  • 2+ years in a supervisory or formal leadership role




    • Previous experience managing field service operations, supervising technicians, or overseeing job scheduling and workflow





  • Experience with Caterpillar equipment




    • Familiarity with Cat construction equipment and related service practices, tools, and systems (e.g., CAT ET, SIS, VisionLink)





  • Technical certifications or training




    • Completion of Caterpillar technical training programs or certifications in diesel technology, hydraulics, or equipment diagnostics





  • Experience with service management systems




    • Proficiency in using maintenance software such as DBS, ServiceLink, or other dealership management tools





  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL)




    • Preferred for field mobility and transporting equipment or parts when necessary






Physical Requirements:


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit for long periods, stand, walk, bend and stoop to perform the essential functions of this job. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
