About the Role

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with developmental, intellectual, or physical disabilities by providing compassionate and personalized support. This position focuses on promoting independence, dignity, and community integration for those served, ensuring their needs and preferences are respected and met. The DSP will work closely with individuals to assist with daily living activities, skill development, and social engagement, fostering a supportive and empowering environment. Collaboration with families, healthcare providers, and other team members is essential to create and implement individualized care plans. Ultimately, the DSP contributes to the overall well-being and personal growth of each individual, helping them achieve their fullest potential in a safe and nurturing setting.


Job Responsibilities

  • Assist individuals with activities of daily living such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, medication reminders, and mobility support.
  • Implement individualized support plans that promote skill development, community involvement, and personal goals.
  • Monitor and document changes in individuals' health, behavior, and progress, communicating effectively with supervisors and healthcare professionals.
  • Provide emotional support and encouragement, fostering positive relationships and social interactions.
  • Ensure a safe, clean, and respectful living environment while adhering to all organizational policies and regulatory requirements.


Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to pass background checks and any required health screenings.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated compassion and patience in working with individuals with disabilities.
  • Basic understanding of safety and emergency procedures.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a direct support or caregiving role.
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid.
  • Training or coursework related to developmental disabilities or behavioral health.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
