Responsibilities
The Psychiatric Institute of Washington is seeking an experienced and dedicated Nurse Manager to join our team of Behavioral Health professionals! Position Summary: The Nurse Manager - is responsible for ensuring coordinated delivery of patient care in accordance with the established standards of care, mental health practice and hospital policy, goals and objectives. Assists in contributing to the hospital's philosophy, objectives, educational and Performance & Improvement efforts, while providing supervision of House Supervisors, RN's and MHTs. This position will monitor staffing needs on assigned shifts. The Manager - Nursing assists the CNO in evaluating, reviewing, designing and implementing hospital training events with respect to all RN//MHT staff required training. Also provides, on as-needed basis, patient nursing assessments. Participates in Treatment Team meetings as needed. Will handle all other duties as assigned by the CNO and senior leadership. Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors Degree in Nursing required; MSN preferred Must have a minimum of 3 years of related nursing leadership experience in a psychiatric or behavioral health setting; 5-8 years preferred. Knowledge of nursing care standards, methods, and techniques in all areas of psychiatric nursing. Experience establishing a therapeutic working relationship with patients' family members. Working knowledge of JCAHO, HCFA, OSHA , and state and federal regulatory requirements. Ability to engage and develop RN and MHT staff. Current District of Columbia Nursing License. Effective communication skills (written and oral). Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
