What to Expect
We are seeking a skilled Technical Program Manager to join our Energy Products Team at Tesla, focusing on Virtual Power Plant (VPP) programs. This role involves managing a portfolio of VPP initiatives, leading program launches, creating technical documentation, and supporting external partners. Collaboration with internal teams such as business development, product, engineering, and support, as well as external utility stakeholders, will be essential to align team goals with company priorities and drive scalable energy solutions.

What You'll Do
  • Act as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of VPP programs, ensuring effective management and coordination
  • Lead new program launches from design to go-live, validating milestones, resolving bottlenecks, and communicating risks to stakeholders
  • Create technical documentation, including how-to guides for external partners and business requirements for internal engineering teams
  • Support external partners operating VPPs with Tesla products by providing scalable solutions and timely issue resolution
  • Serve as an expert on technical tools for VPP residential energy products, such as Powerwall, to educate partners and stakeholders
  • Identify and propose product improvements to enhance scalability, operational efficiency, and customer/partner experiences
  • Facilitate collaboration between business development, product, engineering, support, and external stakeholders to align with company objectives

What You'll Bring
  • Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience
  • Ability to quickly learn and apply technical skills, including managing tickets in Jira, running SQL queries, executing scripts, submitting GitHub pull requests, and using Linux command lines
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to engage with diverse stakeholders, including engineers, operations, business, and utility partners
  • Capability to discuss complex solutions with product and engineering teams and propose impactful new features
  • Strong interest in the energy industry, including utility operations, grid management, and renewable energy integration
  • Strategic and creative thinking to identify opportunities and address challenges in VPP adoption

    Expected Compensation
    $100,000 - $186,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
