What to Expect
Tesla is seeking a highly motivated Calibration Supervisor to lead a team of engineering technicians responsible for comprehensive calibration services for Inspection, Measurement, and Test Equipment (IM&TE) within our battery cell manufacturing program. This role requires a strong leader with a technical background who can drive efficiency, maintain compliance with quality and safety standards, and foster a culture of continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will work closely with the Lab Manager and Calibration Engineer to oversee calibration activities while actively engaging in hands-on support and process optimization. This is a fast-paced, dynamic environment that requires someone who is adaptable, detail-oriented, and committed to excellence.

What You'll Do
  • Lead and support a team of calibration technicians, ensuring efficient test execution and prioritization while collaborating with the Calibration Engineer
  • Standardize lab test execution, data management, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance workflow efficiency and workplace culture
  • Enforce 5S principles, workplace hygiene, and compliance with calibration test methods and manufacturing instructions
  • Maintain skill matrix, onboard new technicians, and provide coaching to support career growth and team effectiveness
  • Oversee IM&TE assets, coordinate material handling and shipments, and support with vendors to troubleshoot equipment issues
  • Track lab capacity, monitor work efficiency, and support R&D needs by optimizing resource allocation
  • Handle procurement, vendor relations, accounts payable/receivable, documentation control, and employee performance monitoring

What You'll Bring
  • Proven leadership experience with a track record of managing technical teams
  • Strong understanding of quality systems in a high-volume manufacturing environment
  • Excellent documentation, organization, and communication skills & demonstrated experience in continuous improvement initiatives
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience in a calibration, service, engineering environment.
  • Hands-on experience with multiple calibration disciplines, including Dimensional, Electrical, Pressure, Mass/Weight/Force, Temperature/Humidity, Analytical Chemical, Vision, Radiation, Gas
  • Must have command of the English language, both written and verbal

Essential Physical Demands:

  • Experience working with hazardous materials and chemicals in a lab setting and comfortable with physical tasks such as moving heavy objects (max 50 lbs.) and handling large pallets
