Summary
The QA Inspector is responsible for auditing production and warehouse operations to ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), company policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and manufacturing/packaging record instructions. This role plays a key part in maintaining product quality by inspecting in-process materials and documentation for adherence to specifications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Under the guidance of the QA Supervisor, the QA Inspector will perform the following duties. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed:

Quality and GMP Compliance
  • Conduct daily audits of the production floor and document findings using Microsoft Office tools (e.g., Excel). Share results with production and quality supervisors.
  • Monitor and enforce GMP compliance on the production floor; provide coaching to employees as necessary.
  • Perform verification checks on in-process bulk products and finished goods for quality and defect control.
  • Review production documentation (batch records, cleaning logs, etc.) for completeness and accuracy during manufacturing and packaging.
  • Ensure adherence to SOPs and batch/packaging record instructions by production staff.
  • Communicate GMP deficiencies to shift supervisors and team leads.
  • Document and report issues requiring corrective action through Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and Incident Reports.
  • Place holds on non-conforming materials and assist in root cause investigations. Communicate findings clearly to the QA Supervisor.
  • With training and supervision, assist in disposition decisions for non-conforming materials based on quality risk.
  • Complete foreign material reports and investigations.
  • Collect cleaning validation swabs and deliver them to the on-site laboratory.
  • Operate basic lab equipment (with training).
  • Serve as a backup to the QA Document Technician for reviewing batch records.
  • Sample incoming components per statistical sampling plans and deliver to the lab.
  • Support the QA Supervisor with special projects as assigned.
  • Consistently model and uphold GMP standards in all work activities.
Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to work independently after training.
  • Prior experience in a GMP-regulated environment preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Basic understanding of food safety principles is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Certifications and Training
  • HACCP Certification (preferred)
  • Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) (preferred)
  • Forklift certification (training provided)
  • Respirator training (provided)
  • PPE training (provided)
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
  • HACCP Certification a plus.
  • Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) a plus.
  • Forklift certification training (provided).
  • Respirator training (provided).
  • PPE training (provided).

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma, or general education degree (GED); and a minimum of eighteen months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Employees must have the capability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos, in addition to having effective written and verbal communications in English to meet training, safety and quality requirements. Can effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations and the ability to write routine reports, correspondence, and Standard Operating Procedures.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Have the potential to understand statistical data.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Have the ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
