This is a 100% Contract position for 1 year with the possibility of extension or conversion to career status.

DESCRIPTION

Applies professional UC academic personnel concepts, organization and / or systemwide policies, and procedures to resolve a variety of academic personnel issues of moderate scope and complexity.

Under general supervision and the direction of the Department Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), the incumbent serves as the Academic Personnel Coordinator, coordinates all activities related to academic recruitment including advertising, appointments and reviews, and payroll. Responsible for preparation of academic appointment requests, maintains knowledge of Academic Personnel policies, analyzes changes, makes departmental recommendations, and may serve as policy advisor to the CAO. Provides advice and guidance to faculty on relevant appointment requests and handles requests related to visiting academics including visa requests.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.

  • Basic knowledge of and ability to apply / interpret organization and college / school policies and procedures which govern academic personnel.

  • Knowledge of organization, college / school and departmental / divisional formal and informal policies and procedures and understanding of variances to stated policies.

  • Knowledge of systemwide and campus policies, union contracts, procedures and practices that govern academic personnel administration.

  • Knowledge of organization's Academic Personnel related programs and systems.

  • Knowledge of unit academic culture and educational goals of discipline(s) served.

  • Analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations to academic appointees within the unit and Chairs / Directors / Division Chiefs.

  • Demonstrated organization, problem solving, and verbal and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated critical and innovative thinking to address moderately complex issues and present nuanced analyses.

  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral skills with the ability to compose original and/or confidential correspondence and reports. Ability to write accurate and detailed correspondence, reports, and procedures.

  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality. Exhibit tact, diplomacy, flexibility and courtesy in a professional manner.

  • Demonstrated ability at presenting a positive, professional and helpful impression and working as a team member. Ability to resolve conflicts while encouraging and developing collaborative positive professional relationships.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Background check required.

  • Must be willing to work occasional overtime for special events or projects.

  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality when dealing with sensitive materials and issues.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $65,800 - $115,000 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $31.51 - $55.08

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
