Your Opportunity + Impact

The Technical Manager oversees and coordinates technical teams to achieve project and organizational objectives through effective integration of technical activities within a designated professional service area. This role is responsible for managing all technical aspects of projects, including design quality, scope, budgeting, and financial performance, while ensuring that deliverables meet established standards. The Technical Manager assigns and oversees team workloads, collaborates closely with Project Managers to align technical execution with project goals, and provides leadership in quality control and staff development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reviews and verifies the accuracy, quality, and methods used by technical teams, ensuring compliance with project and company standards.
  • Manages project budgets and schedules, tracking progress and identifying potential risks or issues.
  • Oversees the technical, quality, and financial performance of assigned teams and projects.
  • Serves as a primary technical resource, addressing questions and resolving issues raised by engineering, technical, and project teams.
  • Acts as Designer of Record when required, ensuring adherence to applicable codes, standards, and best practices.
  • Communicates and collaborates effectively with managers, clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams to support project success.
  • Conducts quality assurance reviews and inspections to verify the integrity and accuracy of completed work.
  • Assists with workload forecasting, staffing plans, and resource allocation to optimize team performance.
  • Develops and manages budgets, schedules, and timelines for technical and engineering projects.
  • Prepares and delivers technical presentations internally and externally, supporting business development and client engagement efforts.
  • Ensures compliance with all environmental, regulatory, and permitting requirements.
  • Reviews contracts, plans, and related documents for technical accuracy and alignment with project objectives.
  • Provides supervision and mentorship to technical staff, including performance reviews, timesheet approval, and enforcement of company policies and procedures.
  • Contributes to the development and execution of annual business goals and multi-year strategic plans to promote operational excellence, innovation, and sustainable growth.

Education and Experience

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree, preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of fifteen (15) years' job-related experience.
  • Licensure/Certification: Professional Engineer (PE), Structural Engineer (SE)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrates a strong desire to expand knowledge and take on new responsibilities within the field.
  • Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Sketch-Up, Photoshop, and other related software programs.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook).
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and meet project deadlines effectively.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a project team.
  • Ability to interact with clients, project team, vendors, and other external groups in a professional manner.
