JOB TITLE: Groomer Level 3
DIVISION: Mountain Operations
REPORTS TO: Shift Supervisor, Slopes Maintenance Manager, and Director of Mnt Ops.
LOCATION: Solitude Mountain Resort
CLASSIFICATION: Full-time/ Seasonal /Hourly
POSITION:
Slope Maintenance Level 3, non-supervisory position that is responsible for producing a quality skiable surface, snowcat operation, and snowmaking operations.
SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Meets requirements of Level 1 and Level 2
- Has a minimum of 5 consecutive seasons of snowcat operating experience.
- Is proficient in Winch Cat operation.
- Is proficient in operations of a loader, tele handler, and excavator.
- Attention to detail.
- Safety consciousness is required.
- Spatial awareness.
- Hydraulic Equipment Experience.
- Equipment Inspection.
- Equipment Care.
- Ability to climb into Machinery.
- Has the ability to lift 50lbs.
- Has the ability to follow direction.
- Dress appropriately for winter.
- Has the ability to ski/ride groomed slopes (in order for quality control).
- Ability to work well with others.
- Must have sufficient transportation (4wd, Awd, and appropriate tires) and be willing to drive to work in inclement weather.
- Strong understanding of ski resort operations.
- Follow resort policies and procedures as described in the Staff Handbook.
- Act as a positive, professional role model, adhering to the company's standards, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Knowledge of Skier Responsibility Code and Solitude Mountain Resort's Code of Conduct
- Ability to perform essential job functions in various types of terrain and weather.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work as a snowmaker preseason (starting as early as mid-October). Snowmaking involves operating and maintaining snow guns, hydrants, hoses, and pumps, heavy lifting and snow shoveling. Working outside in cold and wet conditions. Night work.
- Knows pumphouse operations.
- Competently perform the required vehicle and equipment inspections and servicing records
- Safely operate equipment that the operator has been trained to operate
- Be responsive to direction and instruction during training and while performing assignments.
- Provide the best product possible and concentrate on improving techniques
- Quickly and accurately report any problems with products and equipment.
- Assist mechanics or coworkers with minor repairs and equipment changes.
- Maintain the cleanliness of equipment and facilities
- Exhibit professional conduct and proper radio etiquette.
- Have leadership skills.
- Have expert knowledge of snowmaking system and pumphouse.
- Be proficient in ski slope maintenance.
- Be proficient in ski slope building.
- Inspect work of Level 1&2 operators.
- Steps in for supervisors when needed.
- Know Solitude Mountain ski run names, locations, and fall lines.
- Be able to lead Level 1 and Level 2 operators.
- Has the ability to complete assigned projects timely.
- Take ownership of ski conditions in area of assignment.
- Pass or have passed Level 1 and Level 2 operator certification.
- Pass Level 3 operator certification.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
- Work schedules may include weekends, on call, and holidays
