Overview

Presbyterian is seeking a Manager - Patient Access. This postiion is responsible for managing the daily operations of the Patient Access teams to ensure all functions related to pre-registration, insurance verification, financial counseling, up-front cash collections, and denials are performed within the established quality standards.

This includes timely accurate registration and billing of all patients. Responsible for developing quality, productivity, and in-process measures for areas of responsibility. Implements process improvement initiatives to ensure patient/employee satisfaction, and positive financial outcomes are met. Ensures that departmental goals and objectives are developed and met in a timely and efficient manner while maintaining quality. assurance and adhering to regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration or related field, or equivalent experience in lieu of the required education in accordance with company standards is required.
  • Three to five years medical healthcare Patient Access experience with a minimum of one year Patient Access Supervisory or Managerial experience of at least 10 employees.
  • Work history demonstrating increasing areas of responsibility and accountability preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal business communication skills.
  • Detail and results oriented.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions.
  • Excellent problem solving, organizational skills, people and management skills and the ability to function effectively high levels of stress.
  • Demonstrated strong keyboarding skills, ensuring efficient data entry and documentation.
  • Knowledge in Microsoft Office Products.
  • Pass EPIC proficiency test required with a 85% score at completion of the Epic Training class.



Responsibilities

  • Manages the daily unit operations and performance of the Patient Access. Responsible for the supervision of admitting staff, with the assistance of supervisors, to ensure that all routine departmental operations are completed in a timely, accurate and compliant manner. Manages personnel functions of the department when needed in accordance with the established hospital and departmental personnel policies.
  • Contributes to staff efficiency and skill improvement by consistent weekly observation, evaluation, and feedback of work through the established Stratified Processing Environment process. Identifies and addresses all staff and/or supervisor training needs as proactively as possible to enable top performance.
  • Directs supervisor/staff in the implementation of quality assurance procedures to: (1) systematically assess quality, and (2) provide feedback to teams to stimulate improvement.
  • Monitors unit productivity to identify areas of inconsistency and to optimize utilization of staff resources. Utilizes appropriate reporting to monitor workloads, production and inflow. Works with supervisor in establishing productivity standards. Works with supervisor in evaluating staffing requirements (both temporary and permanent) based on current volumes and productivity. Ensures appropriate training, coaching, and corrective action activities are completed in response to low productivity.
