Shift: Monday-Thursday, 3:00 PM - 1:30 AM, additional hours as needed

GENERAL PURPOSE

Lead and develop a team within our furniture manufacturing operation to achieve excellence in safety, quality, reliability, cost, and employee engagement. The 2nd Shift Production Supervisor plays a key role in meeting production goals, driving continuous improvement, and fostering a positive, high-performance culture. This role ensures that all departmental objectives align with and support our overall business strategy through effective leadership, planning, and hands-on execution on the shop floor.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Continuous Improvement
Drive ongoing improvement by identifying and eliminating waste while creating processes that deliver 100% value to the customer. Lead and model a culture of daily Kaizen-encouraging employees to proactively identify and solve problems to move the organization toward "true north."

Leadership & Team Development
Motivate, coach, and empower employees to take ownership of their work. Set clear expectations, encourage creativity and problem-solving, and hold the team accountable for using standardized work practices. Recognize and celebrate achievements and provide regular feedback through coaching, performance reviews, and ongoing communication.

Production & Quality
Oversee production to ensure consistent on-time delivery of defect-free products. Partner with Quality and Customer Service teams to identify root causes of issues, implement corrective actions, and maintain compliance with ISO 9000 and company quality standards.

Safety & 5S
Promote and maintain a safe work environment for all team members and visitors. Lead by example in adhering to 5S principles, enforcing safety policies, and ensuring all employees complete required safety training. Support corporate and plant environmental goals and compliance requirements.

Shop Floor Engagement
Spend the majority of time on the production floor to monitor processes, observe performance, and engage directly with employees. Use firsthand knowledge and input to make meaningful operational improvements.

Staffing & Development
Manage staffing levels to meet production needs, participate in employee selection and onboarding, and support ongoing skills development. Identify and grow talent within the team to strengthen long-term operational capability.

Operational Excellence
Maintain focus on customer demand (takt time) and one-piece flow principles to ensure production meets real-time customer needs efficiently and effectively.

Additional Responsibilities
Perform other related duties as assigned to support business objectives and plant success.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Minimum of four years of successful supervisory experience in a manufacturing or operations environment, or equivalent leadership experience directing the work of others with measurable results.

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Proven ability to motivate, coach, and develop team members in a fast-paced environment.

  • Demonstrated success resolving conflict and fostering collaboration within teams.

  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and ISO quality systems.

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities with a focus on results.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and standard office communication tools.

  • Core competencies include: integrity and trust, customer focus, decisiveness, relationship building, communication, systemic thinking, flexibility, innovation, and business acumen.
