Location: Tampa, FL Summary The SATOPS SDN Supervisor leads a 17-person team of SDN Tier 1 and Tier 2 satellite communications and network operations technicians providing 24/7 service desk coverage at the SOCOM HQ on MacDill AFB in Tampa, Florida. Works closely with the on-site government customer to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective management and technical solutions to satisfy SOF Deployable Node (SDN) satellite communications and network operations mission requirements. Ensures technicians are providing effective monitoring, control, troubleshooting, and configuration of SDN satellite communications networks and terminals, which includes forward deployed satellite earth terminals and other satellite communications equipment. Defines and implements SDN satellite communications and network operations policies, procedures, and best practices that provide cost effective and secure systems and operations. Monitors the operation, analyzes the current situation, and makes recommendations that maximize the use of available resources to achieve the highest levels of performance. Coordinates initiatives to improve production and communications, and plans and forecasts staff and satellite communications networks and operations resources to meet customer requirements and initiatives. The position duty schedule is based on a 40-hour work week (typically 5-days per week for 8 hours per day). Primary & Essential Accountabilities 
 
 
 Directs day-to-day activities of 17-person SDN Tier 1/Tier 2 satellite communications network and operations staffManages the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of customer SDN satellite communications nodes and operationsMaintains effective communication with the customer, program manager, as well as operations and staff organizations to assure that information systems and technologies for current and future requirements are provided, improved, and replaced as requiredWorks closely with the customer to define critical information needsProvides advice regarding current SDN operations and emerging technologyParticipate in the research, evaluation and selection of new SDN capabilities to meet customer requirementsParticipate in the development and implementation of SDN policies and procedures and standards relative to customer requirementsOversees team projects in support of customer requirementsPerforms recruitment, scheduling, development, evaluation, and enacts disciplinary action, if needed, of 17-person teamParticipate in SDN satellite communications network and operational planningEnforces SDN satellite communications network and operations policies, standards, practices, and security measures to provide effective and consistent information processing to ensure the integrity and reliability of information, communications, and support systemsMaintains knowledge of developments in SDN satellite communications network and operations technologies and makes recommendations for incorporating these new developments into future capabilities to meet customer requirementsUpdates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations Shows initiative in constantly reassessing operational and strategic requirements and makes suggestions that proactively address changing customer needsProtects organization's value by preserving the confidentiality of information
 
 
 Qualification Requirements 
 
 
 Bachelor's Degree, a combination of education and experience, or 10 years of equivalent related experience requiredFive years or more of experience managing operational teams and/or thorough advanced college training in management or information services5+ years of in-depth SATCOM knowledgeDoD 8750 IAT Level II certification (Sec+, CCNA, CCDA, CCNP or CCDP) requiredCandidate must have a Top Secret (TS) Clearance with SCI eligibility. Candidate must have experience managing and/or supporting iDirect hubs and general networking and SATCOM/RF concepts.Strong interpersonal skills are required to deal with personnel situations as well as excellent management skills to successfully perform the planning, directing, reporting, and administrative responsibilities involvedis desiredAbility to work independently and to promote the effective teaming of others in order to achieve objectivesStrong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skillsAbility to successfully interact with all levels of management, other IT professionals and end-usersStrong analytic and problem-solving skillsIs open and responsive to change and demonstrates a commitment to the process of continuous improvement by identifying and responding actively and with sensitivity to the needs of all customers
