Job Summary:

The Materials Handler ll is based at Bell and Howell's Durham, NC HQ office, with operations throughout the U.S. and Canada, and reports directly to Director of Inventory Control.

Job Responsibilities:



  • Loads and unloads material within the Distribution Center and Warehouse utilizing hand trucks, forklifts, hoist, conveyors, or other handling equipment to move material to and from trucks, vans, and ocean containers.
  • Prepares orders for shipment by identifying, packaging, crating, and loading product.
  • Performs daily cycle counts and re-counts.
  • Maintains inventory by identifying, counting, labeling, and placing materials and supplies in stock and recording location of inventory.
  • Utilizes computers and barcode scanners to perform picking, shipping, and receiving functions.
  • Selects customer orders from pre-printed pick lists to be shipped to customers and service technicians.
  • Maintains production and distribution of inventory by pulling orders, delivering production parts and supplies to production floor, and staging finished goods for production and sales orders.
  • Performs general cleaning and organization of warehouse.

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to understand, remember and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to work as an integral part of a team.
  • Ability to maintain regular attendance and be punctual.


Education and Experience:



  • High School degree or equivalent required.
  • 1-2 years' experience strongly preferred.


Travel:



  • This position does not require travel.


Physical Requirements:



  • Requires lifting to waist up to fifty (50) pounds.
  • lifting to head up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
  • Ability to accomplish the described duties through appropriate hand, power, and testing tools/equipment.
  • Requires walking and standing; using hands to feel objects; and requires balance.
  • Requires stooping, kneeling, crouching.
  • Requires close vision and depth perception.
  • Requires color vision to distinguish wiring and part numbers.
  • Requires being able to reach with arms and hands.
