Job Description:

Overview

Deriva Energy is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Renewable Energy Development Associate Analyst. In this role, you will support the Early-Stage Development team in identifying, evaluating, and advancing new renewable and energy storage project opportunities across the United States. You will work closely with the Associate Manager, of Early-Stage Development and other cross-functional teams to provide research, analysis, and coordination for project site control, interconnection efforts, and early-stage development activities.

This is an in person position located in Charlotte, NC.

Key Responsibilities

Project and Market Analysis

  • Conduct research and analysis on renewable energy markets, industry trends, and regulatory frameworks to support project prospecting.

  • Assist in identifying high-potential project sites based on resource availability, grid interconnection opportunities, and market viability.

  • Analyze competitive landscapes and summarize key project drivers.

Early-Stage Project Development Support

  • Support the preparation and submission of interconnection requests.

  • Assist in tracking and managing project development timelines, milestones, and deliverables.

  • Help compile and organize landowner data and documentation for site control efforts.

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., engineering, environmental, finance) to gather data, support due diligence, and help prepare internal documentation.

  • Coordinate meetings, data collection, and communications between departments to ensure alignment on project goals and timelines.

Financial and Risk Assessment Support

  • Assist in preliminary financial modeling and risk assessment by gathering and validating relevant project data.

  • Support the analysis of technical, commercial, and regulatory risks impacting project viability.

Stakeholder and Document Management

  • Help prepare presentations and reports for internal stakeholders, including senior management.

  • Maintain organized records of development activities, agreements, and communications with external parties such as landowners, utilities, and permitting agencies.

Travel and Field Support (as needed)

  • Support field visits for stakeholder engagement, land scouting, and site assessments under the guidance of senior team members.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Finance or similar field

  • In lieu of Bachelor's degree(s) listed above, High School/GED and one (1) year or more of related work experience

Desired Qualifications

  • Master's degree (MBA or related field required)

  • Strong analytical, financial, and strategic thinking skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and work collaboratively

  • Entrepreneurial mindset with initiative and curiosity to learn

  • Familiarity with renewable energy, infrastructure, or real estate development preferred

  • Experience with Deriva Energy's internship program

Working Conditions

  • This position is located in Charlotte, NC

  • This is an in person work schedule with hybrid opportunity (4 days in office required)- employees should live within a reasonable commute to the designated Deriva Energy facility
