Supervisor, Gas Field Operations

National Grid is hiring a Supervisor for our UNY Gas Operations and Construction department. This position can be based in Syracuse, NY.

To be responsible for the safety and security of the gas distribution system through the daily supervision and organization of operations personnel in order to complete job tasks while complying with company and regulatory requirements.

• Supervise a culturally diverse workforce through coaching, counseling and team building to ensure tasks are carried out in a safe and efficient manner and within National Grid's Work Methods and Policies.
• Oversee the operational workload of team to ensure allocated resources are fully utilized to deliver against agreed upon work plan and execute work activities within planned unit and budget cost.
• Build good working relationships with internal & external customers and manage the day-to-day relationship with them in order to understand their requirements and deliver appropriate solutions within National Grid policies and processes.
• Review and approve accurate field sketches, records and paperwork including shift log entries as required.
• Support the safe and compliant construction of new assets onto the gas distribution system.
• Identify the requirement to replace/upgrade existing plant and equipment, including the preparation of business cases, initiation of design and provision of technical support.
• Act as incident controller and site main controller during planned and emergency situations.
• Manage allocated resources to produce cost-effective, customer focused and efficient service within budget and delegation of authority, assisting with the indirect control of various projects in order that timescales and budgeted costs are met.
• Act as the first point of contact for multiple internal stakeholders and outside agencies in order to provide support and ensure National Grid deliver against service level agreement.
• Effective communication skills including the ability to make persuasive presentations to small audiences.
• Ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization.

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanic or Civil Engineering (Desirable).
• A minimum of 3 years of experience (5+ preferred) in the Construction field (Utility Field preferred).
• Prior Supervisory and Leadership skills are preferred
• CDL-A preferred.
• Valid driver's license with a safe driving history that meets National Grid's Safe Driver policy (e.g., must not have more than one traffic violation in the last year and/or more than one motor vehicle accident within the past three years.) required.

Salary: $95,000.00 - $112,000.00 USD
