The Opportunity:

Avantor is looking for a Director, Strategic Projects & Transformation, who will be responsible for driving transformational operations projects across the global manufacturing network. This role provides actionable strategic insights & immediately impactful actions to multiple stakeholders and the development of project-specific analytical tools to identify and manage business improvement opportunities. The Director, Strategic Projects will lead and implement improvement projects of various sizes and directly manage the work of Project Managers and other subject matter experts.

This is a remote role with up to 25% travel.

What we're looking for

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a scientific field or equivalent/applicable experience; a graduate degree is a plus

  • Experience: 8+ years of experience in managing complex, multi-functional projects.

  • 5+ years of operations or business leadership experience

  • Experience in related industry, specifically chemical manufacturing

  • Experience working in a matrixed environment

  • Ability to resolves problems in a structured manner, leveraging both analytical and facilitation skills to identify root causes and drive resolution.

  • Ability to recognize need for change and employ appropriate strategies to facilitate change.

  • Ability to be flexible in fast-changing environment and to work well under pressure.

  • Self- motivated team player and able to handle multiple priorities simultaneously.

  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written with all levels of organization.

  • Strong demonstration of collaboration across all functions and levels within organization

  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of data.

  • Demonstrated project management skills with a proven ability to push projects over the finish line with sound planning and persistent execution; will understand how to align resources, seek the input of key constituents, and manage others to achieve desired results.

  • Business Acumen / Customer Focus - understands the market, industry trends, the complex ecosystem, and anticipates and uses customer insights that provide services beyond their expectations.

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive transformation strategy to drive growth and operational excellence.

  • Lead and manage cross-functional teams to deliver on key strategic initiatives.

  • Assess current business processes and identify areas for improvement and optimization.

  • Drive change management initiatives to ensure the successful implementation of transformational projects.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders across departments to align business goals and objectives.

  • Monitor and analyze market trends, competitor strategies, and industry best practices to guide decision-making.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with external partners, consultants, and vendors to support transformation efforts.

  • Provide executive-level guidance and support to senior leadership on business transformation matters.

  • Prepare & present high executive-level presentations that concisely communicate the key insights, implications, and potential strategic responses. Develop business cases, inclusive of financial justification for final approval.

Pay Transparency:

The expected pre-tax pay for this position is

$148,200.00 - $247,000.00

Actual pay may differ depending on relevant factors such as prior experience and geographic location.
