Description

Trident Seafoods is the largest vertically integrated seafood harvesting and processing company in North America. Trident's global operations produce finished wild Alaska seafood products in 6 countries, and its sales teams serve customers in over 50 countries. Species harvested and processed by Trident include virtually every commercial species of salmon, whitefish, and crab harvested in the North Pacific and Alaska. The global supply chain also includes cultured and wild species from a network of trusted sources worldwide.

Summary:

The FSQA Assistant is responsible for activities involving quality assurance and compliance with applicable regulatory requirements. Responsible for administrative and document control of all food safety or food quality related programs. This will include laboratory and floor duties as deemed necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reviews and updates HACCP plans and manages periodic reviews.
  • Responsible for document control and organization for all quality assurance documents and food safety programs
  • Assists and cross-trains in all areas within the quality assurance department.
  • Assists in developing and reviewing of HACCP Plans, SOP's (Standard Operating Procedure), CCP (Critical Control Points) Monitoring and HACCP Reports including new processes and assessment of ingredients.
  • Responsible for data entry and updating of all Product Specification documents and formulas
  • Responsible for data entry and updating of all packaging and labels with Corporate QA involvement.
  • Responsible for data entry and updating all ingredients and packaging specifications.
  • Compiles and completes all periodic QA studies or projects.
  • Responsible for training materials for CCP's and HACCP documentation
  • Ensures HACCP Documentation and SOPs are working effectively and coordinates with the FSQA Manager and Assistant FSQA Manager to update as needed.
  • Manages GFSI policies and internal audits
  • Prepares and updates any reports prepared by the QA department.
  • Maintains USDC specifications and label submittals and monthly reports
  • Performs other similar or related duties as requested or assigned.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Acquires knowledge of Trident's Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions.
  • Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings.

This is a nonexempt position with an hourly rate of $25.46 to $28.08 per hour.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in the Quality Assurance field, preferably in food production or seafood industry
  • HS Diploma or equivalent
  • Intermediate proficiency with MS office applications, specifically, Excel
  • Knowledge of HACCP regulations, Food Safety, and Audit procedures

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in food-related filed or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • HACCP certification
  • One year experience with FDA labeling preferred
  • Working knowledge of Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) schemes including BRCGS, SQF, etc.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.

The employee is frequently required to climb or balance.

The employee is regularly required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, and talk or hear.

The employee moves objects regularly up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 20 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include near/close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to distinguish shades of color to identify abnormalities and/or defects in food products.
