Description

The Field Sales team is seeking a Marketing Associate to support and expand Macmillan's marketing initiatives within the independent bookselling channel. Reporting directly to the Director of Field Sales, this role plays a pivotal part in connecting publisher marketing strategies with field sales efforts. The ideal candidate will be organized, creative, and enthusiastic about both books and sales, with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

What you'll do:



  • Collaborate with Publisher Marketing Teams: Partner with in-house marketing teams to develop and execute promotions tailored to the independent bookselling channel.
  • Develop and Distribute Marketing Materials: Create, design, and disseminate marketing collateral for key titles, campaigns, and seasonal promotions.
  • Manage Sales Communications: Coordinate marketing assets, newsletters, and outreach efforts to ensure consistent communication with the field sales team and external partners.
  • Plan and Execute Independent Channel Promotions: Conceptualize and manage promotional activities related to key events such as Independent Bookstore Day and other regional trade events.
  • Partner with Bookseller Associations: Work closely with the American Booksellers Association and regional trade associations to enhance Macmillan's visibility and marketing impact.
  • Oversee ARC (Advance Reader Copy) Management: Serve as the primary contact for ARC distribution and coordination across the independent bookstore channel, particularly during seasonal selling and trade shows.
  • Support Author Events and Trade Shows: Provide additional logistical and marketing support to the Author Events team for regional trade shows and bookstore events.
  • Manage Bookshop.org Relationship: Act as point person for field channel's relationship with Bookshop.org
  • Analyze and Report on Channel Performance: Track marketing performance metrics as available, gather feedback, and share actionable insights with internal stakeholders.


What you'll bring:



  • Complete knowledge of the Microsoft Office & Google Suites of programs
  • Proficiency in Adobe Suite, InDesign, Photoshop, Publisher, and/or Canva
  • Excellent organizational, writing, and editing skills
  • The ability to communicate courteously and professionally


Ideal Experience:



  • 2+ years of trade publishing experience is preferred
  • Experience working directly with independent booksellers is a plus.


This role will have an annual salary of $55k-$60k.
