What You Will Do to Change Lives

The Family Peer Recovery Coach II works to engage family members and the prospective participant with the goal of fostering a willingness to accept available services. The Family PRC II provides information, education, and resources to families of participants to enable them to better support their loved one in their goals and/or recovery plan, whether it be while person is living independently or in the family home. The Family PRC II provides direct support and case management services to assigned family members and participants and works closely with participants and their families to ensure that their needs are expressed and that they have a "voice" in their recovery plan. In conjunction with the clinical team, the Family Peer Recovery Coach II completes program intakes/assessments, facilitates groups, promotes engagement and provision of peer and family support services; and serves as an advocate for the participant and family for services as a point of interaction between participant's family and the program.

Shifts Available:

Full Time, 40 hours per week | Monday - Friday | 8:00am - 4:30pm | After Hours Crisis Cell Phone on Rotation

Expected starting wage range is $21.49 - 26.25. Telecare applies geographic differentials to its pay ranges. The pay range assigned to this role will be based on the geographic location from which the role is performed. Starting pay is commensurate with relevant experience above the minimum requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:



  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Must have Cal-MHSA Peer Certification
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Two (2) years' full-time experience, or part-time equivalent, working in a mental health program serving persons with severe and persistent mental disabilities, or a bachelor's degree with a major in psychology, social work or behavioral sciences
  • Experience as a beneficiary of the public Behavioral Health system of care
  • Must have personal vehicle, willing to use for work, and willing to transport clients in your car
  • All opportunities at Telecare are contingent upon successful completion and receipt of acceptable results of the applicable post-offer physical examination, 2-step PPD test for tuberculosis, acceptable criminal background clearances, excluded party sanctions, and degree or license verification. If the position requires driving, valid driver's license, a motor vehicle clearance and proof of auto insurance is required at time of employment and must be maintained throughout employment. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS



  • Demonstrates the Telecare mission, purpose, values and beliefs in everyday language and contact with internal and external stakeholders
  • Provides support and guidance to Peer Support professionals regarding the unique discipline of peer delivered services
  • Acts as a role model for Peer Support professionals in the delivery of peer support services.
  • Acts as a resource for program leadership and others on peer delivered service topics
  • Draws upon own personal recovery experience with mental/addiction challenges as a basis for engagement as a peer with members served and to validate members' own lived experiences
  • Consistently utilizes recovery language and a strength-based approach to assist members served to reach their fullest potential
  • Participates in the planning, organization and co-facilitation of Recovery Centered Clinical Service (RCCS) materials, self-help and recovery education groups
  • Provides education and expertise from the perspective of a person with lived experience of mental illness to the team concerning various mental health/addiction recovery experiences
  • Travels locally to provide outreach to members served in the community
  • Participates in verbal de-escalation and physical interventions in emergent situations and is willing and able to assist other staff as needed to maintain a safe, healing environment for all


SKILLS



  • Knowledge of recovery focused, strengths based work in mental health/addiction recovery
  • Be willing to seek to understand members' unique circumstances, personal preferences and goals and incorporate them into daily work as well as any needed crisis response to help the member regain a sense of control
  • Have a strong understanding of recovery and resilience, the value of partnerships with members and member choice, and the balance between protection from harm and personal dignity
  • Strong knowledge of relevant community resources and methods for accessing them
  • Strong communication, writing, and typing/computer skills
